Whatever happened to Winter?

What has become of Leia's friend Winter? I enjoyed her character in HTTE, DFR, and TLC, but she's seem to has just...disappeared from the NJO series.

 

She was staying on Mon Calamari, taking care of a dying Admiral Ackbar. She stays with him until his death, shortly before the defeat of the Vong.

Winter is also the wife of Tycho Celchu, famed Rogue Squadron pilot.

As far as we can tell, there is nothing more between Ackbar and Winter than a caring friendship.

Her brain exploded. She's in a nursing care facilty, with memories that all run together with no timeframe of order. Sad.

 

I'm sure she's been keeping busy making Tycho dinner, popping out babies, and oh, I dunno...knitting or something.

 

She's almost sixty. No freaking kids. What is it with SW fans wanting a bunch of elephant skins with eyes getting it on?

 

What I want to know is, why the heck did she kill Admiral Isoto for Imperial Intelligence?

Is Tycho really Farmboy?

How does one serve up calamar d'hiver?

Why does my reading-against-the-text-o-meter keep wanting to make her Syal Antilles?

She's the same age as Leia. They grew up together on Alderaan. Leia keeps saying or thinking that she can't recall how many times Winter was mistaken for the Princess.

She's mentioned in the e-book "A Forest Apart" and I think in "Tatooine Ghost" (Not sure, haven't read it yet). Just more proof that TD is taking good care of the SW continuity.

Winter and (especially, IMHO) Mirax are female EU characters who aren't merely rehashes of Leia and Mara (mainly Mara, I guess). In our limited experience with them, they both seem to have distinguishing and sustainable characteristics and I'd surmise they would strike most as less . . . objectionable, I guess . . . than Ms. Jade.
