    Not the most beautiful sounds. . .not your favorite songs, necessarily -- but your favorite music. The most beautiful, the most awesome, the most touching -- whatever. Just your favorite music. I guess my favorites are Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Holst's Jupiter: The Bringer of Jollity. I guess I'm just a joyful person. :)

    Hmm, that's a tough one. A VERY tough one.

    I'm not entirely sure if it's my absolute favorite since there's so much I like, but i think this one may be my favorite.

    It's Tennessee by Hans Zimmer from Pearl Harbor. I always listen to this. It's so beautifully done.

    Aren't I weak? ;)

    Mastadge, excellent choices. Those are two of my favorties. My favorite classical piece is probably the 1812 Overture; it has beauty and power. Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture, also by Tchaikovsky, is worth mentioning.

    To keep the topic on music used in films, two beautiful pieces that stand out are Canon In D (used in Ordinary People, among many others), and The Blue Danube (used in 2001: A Space Odyssey -- one of the great movie scenes of all time).

    As for music compsed for films...

    I love Apollonia from The Godfather, and Suo Gan from Empire Of The Sun.

    And then there's all that Star Wars stuff...

    :D

    ::smiles:: I like this thread!

    Beethoven's Ode to Joy really is beautiful. I think my favorite music to listen to is Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, Rimsky-Korsakoff's Scheherezade, George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue (which is fun to play on the piano as well!), and the first movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (any one else see K-19 Widowmaker? Took me the second time seeing it to hear that music...)

    I like Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni. It was in Raging Bull and The Godfather Part III.

    My favourite piece at the moment is Berio's Sinfonia, especially the third movement.

    My fave bit of film work at the moment is Nigel Westlake's score to Solarmax.

    Has anyone here heard either of these?
