what's canon?

basically, disney pretty much made all the old books and everything not canon right? so everything i used to know about star wars after return of the jedi isnt actually true, correct?
from my understanding, the only things that are canon are the films, the clone wars cartoons, and the star wars rebels cartoon.
i fell off the star wars nerd train a while ago, but after tfa, im back on. can someone point me to a list of books that are canon?
(also, canon=officially part of the story, right?)

anything you want to be canon is.

It's fiction, so enjoy what you want to enjoy.

But technically anything published after the Disney sale is considered canon.

Also the films, TCW and Rebels TV series.

 

i get it's fiction, but i think i remember han and leia's kid being anakin solo, but that's not the case now. i want stuff that fits with the story of the movies.

i totally get what you meant by "anything is canon" though

 

The movies, The Clone Wars TV series, Rebels TV series, The novel A New Dawn and any of the books, comics, and games released afterward are all official canon now.
The Wookieepedia canon timeline is my favorite source because you can hide the things you don't care about like the kiddie books.
