When Darth Vader tells Luke he's his father. (before Luke goes, "NOOO!!! That's impossible!" :p)
When you first see the At-Ats on Hoth... [face_love]

The Dagobah cave "duel" - when Luke slices off Vader's head, and sees his own face behind the mask.

In terms of its symbolism and depth, this scene stands apart from any other scene in the trilogy. Also, it is unique in that we're seeing something that's internal to Luke, that is not objectively "real".

I don't just have one scene I like; the movie has so many:

    * The entire duel between Luke and Vader - the best duel in the OT, IMHO.

    * The aforementioned scene when Vader tells Luke he is his father - amazing! What a suprise for audiences at the time.

    * Luke's saying to Yoda that he can't lift the X-wing, and then saying to Yoda, "You ask the impossible" - then, seeing Yoda lift it effortlessly! Very impressive.

    * The scene when Han and the gang go to dinner, and Vader is there. Han blasts him, and Vader deflects the blast. Then, the line, "We would be honored if you would join us." - Classic!

The Cloud City dinning room scene. Vader is just so cool, so in control.

Well since Vader is my father scene is probably hands down the best I'll take a stab at a scene that I think is not only the best in ESB, but probably the best in the whole saga:

Fett: what if he doesn't survive, he's worth alot to me.
Vader: the Empire will compensate you if he dies. PUT HIM IN!

Chewie goes crazy, stormies start flying and here it comes..

as Han is talking to Chewie and telling him he has to look after the princess, Leia looks up at Vader. I swear the look of terror on her face as she backs away gives me goose bumps. Add to that the eerie shadows of the carbonite freeze facility and of course the music =
IMHO the best blend of acting/filming/music score in the entire saga.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I'd say a fair amount for what is considered a 'dark' film. The exchanges between Threepio and the other characters (Han, Chewie, Artoo) are great, and there are some funny moments between Han and Leia ("I am not a commitee!" as well as my sig).

In my opinion, the Carbon Freeze scene was by far the best single scene in the entire saga.

    Mace Windy,
    too windy for spoilers!

Most certainly, the final scene. There are many great scenes in ESB, but with all those wonderful scenes in mind, it's what makes the final shot so what-it-is. Yes, I lack the vocabulary to describe just how good that scene is. It's beautiful, but despressing, not to mention the faint sense of hope. It was done perfectly.

"That's two you owe me, Jr."

the scene following Luke's bacta experience is great, the way the characters played off eachother and responded to eacother was awesome, I love it.

    "Laugh it up, fuzzball."

    Haha!

From the time they get there to the time they leave, Bespin is excellent. I especially loved the Luke/Vader duel, the escape, and where Han is lowered into the Carbon chamber.

The ending part of the duel where Vader looms over an exhausted Luke, points his saber and says "You are beaten." After that, you'd start thinking "Oh ----... it's over."

    Well, mine is....

When they play the Imperial March for the first time and the see the Tie Fighters and the Star Destroyers flying around and they are dwarfed by this huge shadow of the Executor and Darth Vader standing on the bridge breathing. That's my fav.

I also love... "The force is with you, young Skywalker, but you are not a Jedi yet." scene

There are just so many to pick from but i'd have to go with the Vader/Luke duel.
But the Battle of Hoth is also amazing.

The Duel or Yoda's "luminous beings..." speech to Luke.

    Probably the Duel.

How can you possibly resrict this to just one moment?

    OK, in random order:

Vader Vs Luke. Fantastic duel. Most powerful of the saga.

Vader stnding on the Carbon Freezing Chamber platform, covered in shadow. Then: "The force is with you young Skywalker. But you are not a Jedi yet." Wonderful, chilling moment.

    "I am your father."

Luke pleading with Ben to help him, then calling to Leia "Hear me." And Leia does hear him.

Carbon Freezing chamber-The ENTIRE sequence. Perfection!

Escape from Cloud City-Wonderful, operatic moment.

Yoda raising the X-Wing after Luke has failed/

Yoda's Speech about the force "Not this crude matter..."

Ben telling Luke "Don't give into hate...." Plus the X-Wing lifting off, and Yoda being covered in darkness, and his dialouge with Obi-Wan.

Han Solo and C3PO. Great, comic double act.

The closing scene. Sad, tragic, dark, hopeful, sorrowful, powerful, astonishing, visual, slient film-making at it's very, very best.

John William's score throughout the movie, but especially the last half an hour. Is this is greatest ever score? And to think, he didn't win an Academy Award. :(

God I could go on and on all night. How about I just nominate the whole movie? ;)
