The whole certain point of view thing is one thing, but I think he may have had some other issues. Not recognizing R2 and 3-P0...ok there's 1000's of droids that look exactly like them, and he does maybe look like he could recognize R2... My question is about Leia. "That boy is our last hope" in Empire based on that line he seems to not know about Leia being Luke's sister, then in Jedi when asks about Yoda saying that there was another Skywalker, Ben talks about him having a twin sister etc. Luke says that Leia is his sister, Ben doesn't seem to be shocked at all, almost like he knew it all along...Did Ben only find out about Leia after he had been "one with the force" Or did Ben not think Leia had any force ability and dismissed her as being any "hope" for the future of the Galaxy and the Jedi Order?

    Any thoughts?

I may be able to help you out here...1st of all as far as not recognising the droids, Obi-Wan really didn't have much contact with either of the droids. He has not met C-3PO in either of the prequels and he has only briefly been around R2-D2. Ben also didn't say he didn't know the droids, All he said was that he didn't recall owning any droids.

As far as Ben knowing about Leia...Ben knew about Leia. When he says that boy is our last hope, I think he means that Leia could not be trained due to a lack of time and transportation. If Luke got killed by Vader on Bespin...Then Yoda would have to somehow get a ship to come to Dagobah to pick him up and then track down Leia and then convince her to leave the rebellion and come be trained as a Jedi(not likely to happen). Even if she agreed, The fact that Leia had zero training at that point it would've taken years to train her and by then Yoda would have died from old age and the rebellion would've long been crushed. Hope this helps somewhat.

    A reasonably sound explanation...

Ben did refer to R2 as "little friend"

    The whole "last hope" thing:

Could be simply backing one horse over another. reason being the Father was the chosen one. Logically, they could've tried to make a Chosen One Version 2.0 with luke. And with the guilt of what happened to Anakin, Ben could be trying redeem himself through Luke.

so actually, Luke is Obi-wan's Last hope... and Yoda corrects him by reminding Ben there is another... Leia.

    Here's one for the books:

Maybe ol' George didn't think about any of that cool "Leia is Luke's sister" stuff until TESB or ROTJ. No way, eh? [face_laugh]
