I kind of wish we saw what the Emperor was up to in A New Hope.

I suppose he was on Coruscant getting rid of the Senate. That's scary if you think about it. The whole point of the Death Star is to take the place of the Galatic Senate. Basically, the democracy of the Galactic Senate upholds the laws and rules in the Galaxy so that all the systems function together successfully.

Then the Death Star comes along because the Emperor and the Sith don't like democracy and another alternative to democracy is to build a giant death moon, that scares everyone into being good and accepting oppresion.

I know this is mentioned in ANH but I wish it could have been expanded further.

 

I think he's taking a night class in speaking Huttesse. Plus I bet when he would go places he'd have his own personal band play the Imperial March.

 

I live for your posts Darth_Digital... that is good stuff. You should give GL a call and see if he needs in help in the writing department for future projects.

Anyway, as people said, he is busy disbanding the Senate and waiting for his apprentice to dispose of the rebel annoyance. With the rebels defeated and the Senate disbanded, there would be no one to stop his rule of the universe.

 

Actually instead of listening to Van Halen, he is listening to AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds" at full volume in the Senate hall, sipping Jack Daniels, while watching the Stormtroopers wipe out the senators as they try to flee the building.

Either that or he is down in Florida playing golf and using Sith mind tricks on the hotties down in South Beach!

 

Palpatine probably was hanging out at an imperial cantina bar on Coruscant.

mon: plays golf with vader
tues: goes to the spa (cucumber and age lines etc ^^^)
wed: visits the grandkids
thurs: goes down to the beach (dont forget the factor 40 - skin like that burns easilly!)
fri: goes to the dentist (a new one each week cos he gets annoyed and force chokes them once they tell him that NOTHING can be done for his teeth)
sat: does all his public work - smashing wine onto boats, opening libaries and hospitals etc
sun: checks plans for the death star, and always says the same thing - "more PINK"

he's a good guy really...

Sitting in the throne room watching Spaceballs, and gets an idea:

"My next secret weapon of mass destruction is going to be a ship that transforms into a giant maid which has the ability to suck the atmospheres from planets."

*Clicks the comlink on his chair*

"Lord Vader."

Vader: "Yes, my master."

"Allow the Rebels to destroy the Death Star. I have a much better weapon."

Vader: "Yes, my master."

And then he rises, and breaks into a song and dance routine, singing "The Inquisition", dedicating it to Order 66 from the previous movie.

I suggest that Palpatine is consolidating power, and as others have mentioned, concentrating on dissolving the Senate. Planning the destruction of the Rebellion would also be a top priority.

 

ever since his run in with mace he has been trying to get some flesh color back to his skin. he tried tanning, it worked, but not to the extent that he would have liked, he still looked very pasty. so on sundays (his personal day) he would go to the mall and get a make over. for a few years this made him very happy. it was a relaxing way to spend his day off. and he cought up on the latest gossip. unfortunetly while attending a party in his honor (all parties are in his honor) he overheard an admiral wispering to his wife that the make up makes palpitine "look like an old hag". needless to say the admiral and his wife did not see the end of the party. but the dark lord never returned to the mall. instead he accepted his pale complextion, which gave him a more positive self esteem. even a sith lord can have sunny days.

he still invites the girls over to gossip.

 

Palps had a harem and a throne room jester. His subjects would try to entertain him, and if they were bad, he would force choke them.

 

palpitine has a part time job walking dogs in the park.

 

In anticipation of the day he gets to electrocute somebody again, he spends month after month shuffling his feet back and forth across the carpet.
