What's wrong with the family T-16? (ANH)

In ANH, Luke takes the droids underground. C-3PO is getting an oil dip and R2-D2 delivers a partial message. In the background we see a partial T-16 (Skyhopper) How come when Luke leaves in the morning to look for R2 he doesn't take the T-16?

What's wrong with the T-16? I would imagine that the Stormtroopers wasted it when they killed Beru and Owen... but what's your take on it?

 

It was probably attacked by a mysterious villain called Darth Budget.

I believe one of the wings had gotten damaged in a crash, and Luke hadn't repaired it yet. But don't quote me on that.

It's currently in need of repairs at the time of ANH. In the ANH Radio Drama, Luke races his T-16 against his friend Fixer's. Luke threads the Stone Needle and damages the stabilizer.

 

Cool, I was pretty close.

vent ports. I actually saved the T-16...mostly."

 

In the ANH novel and the script/dialogue cut from the film, Luke says that his uncle has grounded him for reckless flying in the skyhopper (an incident in which the wing was slightly damaged).

 

Than again, even if Luke could've flown the T-16, is it only a single person vehicle? Would there have been room for the droids?

 

It holds at least two people, because Windy rides shotgun with Luke when he races Fixer in the radio drama.

 

He could probably fit both droids in there, since Artoo is pretty small.

Or maybe he could just get some rope and tie Artoo to one of the T-16's wings.

 

That would kill its aerodynamic
Also, tieing 3PO to it would be a whole lot funnier
