Darn-it! Accidentally voted for the wrong one.

    Oh well.

WEG is what I meant to hit.

    D'OH!

Even though my group is now in d20, I still have to go with WEG. I just like the easy rules and smooth gameplay. Not to mention I've got more memories with it.

    West
    End
    Games

They produced the first and second editions of the RPG, based on a system that used only 6-sided dice (aka "d6"). Their license to produce the SW game was yanked arround the time TPM came out, and re-issued to WotC, the Hasbro subsidiary.

I rather like video games, but FPShooters are the best. Any of you gamers played Starwars Battlefront?

Video games for me, but only because I don't like board-posting games, and there really aren't that many SW gamers around me.

I have to go with d20, although it was close for me. D6 was simpler to make characters and moved faster, but there were times the rules just didn't work.

I am gonna have to go with WEG. Just because of the simplistic beauty of the wild dice. I love complications and use them when I run games often to redirect the story if I need to. Railroading with the illusion of free will.

    WEG all the way.
The mechanics are simple, and adequately simulate situations and people. When it comes down to it, isn't that what you want game mechanics to do?

In real life people don't 'level up', they train and grow. This way a newbee can hold his own in a vetran group, as long as the newbee has the right skill spread. You ever try putting a level 1 char in a group with level 12 chars?

    Bah, I'm expounding again. (8^>

Agree with Foo & Neo-paladin. WEG is simple, and fast. Nothing gets bogged down with endless modifiers etc. Not that WotC is bad (I have both) but I prefer WEG.

Does anyone know if anyone released any prequel stats for WEG?

I played WEG for almost a decade, and I'll always cherish it. However, there comes a time when a character in my game becomes so accomplished that its time consuming to roll 11D+2.

In WOTC its simply a matter of 1d20 or two or three or even 4.

    But opposed to 11D6?

    *shudder*

Still, in WEG's defence, they're making the plumbing waaaay too complicated nowadays, it's evenutally gonna stop up the drain.

    Still-

    I love them both.

D20 is fun, but it's difficult to create monsters

This reminds me of something one of my old gamer friends said, "You know, even though we've moved from WEG to d20, in Star Wars it still seems like they find a reason for you to roll a bucket of d6es."

Yeah, I've also noticed that combat in particular can drag in D6. There are ways around it though. When I run I used the classic D6, as in the book, for everything but combat.
For combat I use the "D6 Legends" system. The rules are outlined on the WEG website, but I've found they are distilled a little clearer on a website for a homebrewed D6 Matrix RPG found here.
