When can we expect the first trailer?

Would it be unreasonable to hope for a trailer by May 2004?

 

The last half of next year would be a safe bet

 

The first TPM trailer went up Nov 21, the year before release.
The first AOTC trailer went up Nov 5, the year before release.

Meditate on this you will.

Not for quite some time as they've just started principle photography. I wouldn't expect the first one until late next year.

 

i think that the trailers are to appear around christmas of 2004, i think it was before Lord of the Rings that i saw a trailer for epII! so not for a while

 

on a similar note: when do you think we should expect to see stills from the movie?

 

They need to make the trailers more simple methinks.

Also what will the trailers be like?

I think we'll see some ships shooting with mellow music then strike it up after seeing a shot of Anakin and Padme, Anakin in tantrum mode and a little bit of the Obi-Ani duel. Also seeing the shadow of Vader would be cool.

Of course Hyperspace members will get the trailers in advance. By then filming will be complete, so there will most likely be no daily set reports or webcams. Historically the popularity of the trailers has been immense - Lucasfilm knows this, and they will ensure that they get your money for the trailers as well as the movie.

My bet is that Hyperspace will get the high resolution trailers, and only a small version will be available for free...until the rebellion gets hold of a full size copy, places it in an R2 unit and delivers it safely to the rest of the internet...

 

Man, I'll be first in line to see the Episode III teaser trailer in theatres. Depending on the flick, I might just pull a "Meet Joe Black" and take off after the trailer.

Attack of the Clones was announced as the title on August 6th, 2001. You can read the initial reaction thread here. (Which is just kinda funny to read now, looking back on it.)
