When did you become a SW fan?

I can´t vote. Became a fan around 1995/96, after seeing the OT on TV.
I had seen them before, but then I only thought they were fun movies, not something to be a fan over.

 

When TPM came out. I had always loved Star Wars, but I didn't take serious, life-centering path till then when I was in 4th grade. The Essential Guide to Characters is what started it all for me.

 

BEFORE seeing ANH.

 

None of the above. It's a long story!

 

Yup- I saw it when it came out in '77- was 7 yrs old- have been hooked ever since!

 

Backseat experience on my birthday in August 1977 ...saw it twice that night, because I missed the first thirty minutes of the first showing (not for the reasons you might think, I had just turned four years old that afternoon).

 

I was 4 years old in the summer of 1977.

I remember only a few things from seeing ANH in the theatre, but it left an impression on me that I never shook.

I don't remember the movie as a whole from that first visit, but I remember certain iconic images:

*Darth Vader emerging from the smoke in the hallway of the rebel cruiser.

*Vader crushing the windpipe of the one rebel crewman, demanding the "plans you intercepted...what have you done with those plans!?!"

*Vader crushing Motti's throat with the Force.

*The Tusken Raider standing up over Luke, yelling, gaffi stick raised above his head, pumping it up an down.

*A collage of images from the Cantina, most notably the very first alien we see pop his head into the camera's view, Walrus Man and the Cantina Band.

*Obi Wan fighting Darth Vader.

*Luke exhaling after sinking the torpedo into the exhaust port.

*The rush of adrenaline and excitment when the music stopped, and the Death Star BLOWS UP. I remember the audience YELLING, CHEERING, STANDING and FLIPPING OUT after it blew up. It is my most vivid memory of the whole movie.

*The standing ovation the movie received at the end. This remains the only time I've ever seen a movie receive such an honor by the audience. Awesome.

The first Star Wars was truly a SPECIAL time. I'll never forget it.

 

after seeing ANH on TV 8 years ago

 

When first seeing ANH, I became obsessed. When first seeing the Darth Maul toy, I because a fan... which was really only last year.

seeing ANH, well actually I saw the Ewok movie first (oddly enough) so it was actually then. I loved watching the CT on video when I was young, though. (I'm only 16 now)

 

When TPM was released.

Actually, it was more due to the saber duel than anything else ...

 

I was about 4 when ANH came out. I didn't get it really, but I loved the toys. I started understanding the story by the time ESB came out and have been hooked ever since.

 

Unfortunately I had only seen the movies a few intermittent times before I read 'Heir to the Empire', which officially marked my beginning as a Wars junkie.

 

After seeing ROTJ on VHS. I was 8, it was the first SW movie I ever saw, and it's been my favourite since.
I was totally confused by it though, since we didn't have ANH or ESB on tape. So I'd just watch the space battle over and over.

 

There should be a what year because seeing STAR WARS (ANH . . . grrrrr) to me doesn't count! I've been a fan since May 1977, baby!

 

From seeing ANH back in 1985ish.

 

When I was 12, I had long dark hair, so my sister made me cinnamon bun hair and made me wear a turtleneck and sheet, so I looked like Princess Leia for Halloween in July party. I assumed princess leia was some british monarch. Then, the following march, my mom said, "Hey, there's a new movie theater opening and they're showing all three Star Wars movies for the first day!" "What's star wars?" ::cringes.::

THe moment Darth Vader walked on the screen, I was hooked.

 

pretty much when i i was born because my brother was born in 77 and he made sure i was a fan from the time i was born.

 

Seeing ANH

 

I was 7 yrs. old in 1997 and my mom took me to the video store. I saw the cover to Return of the Jedi, thought it was interesting and my mom let me check it out. I ended up seeing the original trilogy backwards from ROTJ,ESB, then ANH.

 

I was in sixth grade when the SEs came out. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see them in theaters (sold out ) So December of that same year ESB and ROTJ came on USA Network. I was completely hooked after seeing ESB and the next day after ROTJ I was an official Star Wars fanatic and have been ever since 12/18/97.
