Yeah It was a pretty cool special. It's always fun to watch Harrison rip on ROTJ every chance he gets.

"The movie ends with a teddy bear picnic"

You can't cover it all in less than 60 minutes. Just like the A&E EOD cut, there's still a lot missing. Where's Palpatine? It was hacked up averagely. Still worth watching though.

"the "vest continuity error" that some fans claim has been digitally removed in the carbon freeze scene"

Actually it has been fixed there is no "claim". I just wonder why they fixed it since it was a lighting thing?

There was an interesting shot I'd never seen before, which appeared to be shot from the sarlaac looking up at the underside of a skiff.

Good special! It discussed things more openly & everyone had fun with it. Kevin Smith is a riot! He really brought everything into perspective for the die-hard fan: "I knew I was gonna have to cut Star Wars loose if I was ever gonna have a chance at getting laid!"
On the "I am your father" revelation:
"What a way to introduce a nine year old to the world!"

    Funny stuff!

It showed some cool behind the scenes stuff and didn't over do it. It's still all about Empire of Dreams on Tuesday though.

But i tell ya', when you get a retro special called "When Star Wars Ruled the World", it pretty much means the ride is about to end and it's about time to get off. But what a ride it was!!!

Overall, I liked it but it had that tacky VH1 style that tends to cheapen everything it touches.

Shame on whoever shot the interview footage, using extreme close-ups on ageing actors.
    Very unflattering and totally unnecessary.

I saw it twice today(well technically yesterday). I liked it.

    It still rules my world.

    Mine too. :D

Yeah, the close-up interviews are kinda weird, but the show is designed that way and I guess it's more a testimonial style rather than sit down interview style and it comes across a bit more honest. I guess since the show chronicles pop culture from back in the day, anyone who gets interviewed is gonna be old and I think that's the point, to show it all, warts and all.

It really surpassed my expectations in every way.
I wasn't expecting the main cast to take part. I
had envisoned it as one of those 'I love the whatever'
things where D list celebrities give their opinions
on something they know nothing about. (If that ugly
moron with the three meter gap in his teeth had
taken part, I was going to change the channel)

To my delight there was Fisher, Hamill and
Ford! I wonder how VH1 came up with the $$$$ for
Indianna Solo to take part!? I have never seen all
of the SW cast seem so happy to be talking SW. That
was the real pleasure of the whole thing.

BTW, Kevin Smith needs his own talk show. When he
called Solo a 'pimp' for responding 'I know' in
Empire, I lost it. Great stuff.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but they showed an outtake of han in the carbon freezing chamber, getting ready for a take, and unless i am blind, it was clear that he DID NOT have a black vest on as he was getting into position for the take, but when he finally did get into position, it showed the shoulders being darker, and thus fodder for the vest/no vest debate that has since raged as either a continuity error, or one that has since been fixed...

    anyone confirm this???

[EDIT] - i see that sabo-wan can!!! thank god i am not crazy...

LOL - 6-6-6 - the number of the beast!

I just saw this yesterday and thought it was pretty good, albeit a little heavy on the pop culture. That Star Wars gangsta rap is friggin awesome as well...

That rap song at the end was hilarious, especially when Vader and the stormtroopers stated dancing. [face_laugh]

When they were talking about Vadrer revelation I liked how they went to Harrison Ford "Wait, wait. What?" They had it look like a tape was being rewinded, then plaed the "I am your father" bit again.

^ Yeah, that was great. I also like how Harrison said "Not the best way to end it...with a teddy bear picnic..." [face_laugh]
