Insurance is all about risk. I can see how it's mistaken for prejudice but it's really not. More young people crash cars, I'm a young person who's never had an accident but, I still pay more premium. I'm not exactly over the moon about it but, I understand why it's done. I'm higher risk. That's a fact, not an insult.

the same priciple applies across the board. It's just good business sense.

What if someone who has it bites you? Cause I'm sure that's how you passed it to Andy.

well because I smoke my mortgage payments are higher..I'm more a risk of catching lung cancer...oh and thank's Beth about the bit about me rotting over 10 years..that really made my morning [face_plain]..

As for HIV...it is incredibly hard to catch via hetrosexual sex..the persentage rate drops 80 odd percent if you wear a condom..but if you have a low sexual history and you've never had unprotected sex abroad..then you are low risk and some GP's would not even recomend a test.

May I also point out that going for test is actually quite a 'heavy' thing..you give you're blood and you sit and wait...and all that time you think and think about all the times you unprotected sex...most testers recommed somekind of counciling before you go ahead with it..

Some insurance companies ask if you have been tested for HIV, never mind if you have it.

Never had a test; but then again, I give blood (universal donor!), and I'm sure they must screen that in some way...

    LOL. Pesky windows.

I have scars down my left arm that looked like needle tracks. My teachers thought I was injecting. Came of my bike at a river jetty. My arm slipped down between two planks that were about three inches wide and ripped my arm open in several places to the bone. When I pulled it out and looked at it, I threw up. All but three scars have faded now.

Got a whole load of miniscars on my right elbow from where I "surfed" the road after being hit by a car doing 45mph when I was 15. Lots of grit to extract from that apparently. Almost got up and walked away... well I had to, went on holiday 3 days later!
