Does anyone care to or want to have a place where we can hook-up and talk Star Wars stuff? Is there a place already established where ATL folks can gather? Anyone have any ideas?

    Later!

I think it would be fun to get together. I've never actually played the RPG, before, but am willing to learn, if folks are patient.

Since this is the internet, common sense would dictate holding an event someplace neutral. We could make it someplace central like Lenox Mall? Or we could ask Wizards of the Coast at Gwinnett Place Mall if they'd be willing to gather at their tables.

    Thoughts?

Sounds good to me. Is there anyone else interested in this? I don't play the RPG either (I used to play D & D, but not in a few years) Is there any good place to sell/trade collectibles?

I live up in Kennesaw, so I'm a bit out of the way. I'm sorta shy...:p

We could always find a place more equi-distant for everyone. That's why I suggested Lenox, since it's semi in the middle of town.

I'm always up for a little collectible hunting. Doesn't sound like we have much of a RPG contingent in this group.

It does not break my heart not to RPG; although the new line is very nicely done.

Is there a store around town that is particularly well-known for its collectibles and/or toys? We could expedition out there and then go out to eat, or something.

I haven't been to FAO in a long time. I'm not sure they'll have anything decent in stock.

Hey...if the tire swing is centrally located (and it's a little bit warmer out), I'm open to suggestions!

Now that the holidays are over, why don't we figure out when and where?

How does the Saturday, January 27th look for everyone? Location TBD.

What about February 10th, then? (I'm out of town on the 3rd.)

I'd really love to see some sort of Star Wars activity in this town.

I've never been to Dave&Busters, but it's right off 85, so barring any ugly accidents, it could be relatively easy to get to.

I'd really love to see us get going. I'm so envious of these Star Wars clubs forming up around the country. I mean, Idaho Falls has a club, for pete's sake!

Whaddya say, gang? Any takers for Dave&Busters on, say, February 10th?

Okay...that's two of us. Anyone else?

I suppose we could also post a story on the FanForce main page to announce the get-together. Maybe we'll get some other folks, as well.

Glad to see you guys are getting a meeting together. Make sure you read Mr. K's FanForce FAQ thread if you want to make it an "official" meeting (3+ people attending, discuss it in the forum, and email fanforce@theforce.net with date/time/place, etc.)

The FAQ thread can be found here:

    Good luck!

I'm so bummed that we can't seem to get something organized here in Atlanta. What is it about this town that makes it so hard for non-gamer fans to find each other?

Don't get discouraged. The toughest part is finding a day when everyone can get together. Once you get that, everything else falls into place.

    Thanks for the encouragement!

So...does anyone want to propose a new date? We can try this again.

RosieWook, if you are looking for a place with lots of toys and collectibles in the Atl area, I suggest you look into a place called Oxford Comics. It's in Buckhead, on Piedmont Road. I can give you more info if you want, but I'm sure you'll be able to find it in the phone book. They have lots and lots of toys, figures, cards, comics, RPG, some anime videos, probably anything you could want. Some of the prices on the toys tho, well let's just say you could probably find a better price if you looked hard enough, but they are ok. Lots of back issue comics and lots of RPG stuff tho. Hope that helps, if you haven't heard of it already.

I am a frequent visitor to Oxford Comics. Great store. But you're right. They are quite proud of their collectibles. You really need to know your prices before going in there. Still...it's fun to look.

So, any thoughts on a get-together?
