Star Wars is number one but here's my rankings.

1. Star Wars
2. Indiana Jones
3. The Chronicles of Narnia.

 

Although I grew up and enjoyed the Superman, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future & The Terminator franchises, nothing and I mean NOTHING comes close to Star Wars.

 

SW is clearly my favorite followed by ST then there r many others including but in no particular orders......

Terminator, Alien, Certain kinds of Anime but not all, E.R. Borough's John Carter stories (hey who doesn't like an advance naked culture?), Halo universe, Gears of War universe, Resident Evil universe, Ancient Earth mythologies and everything related 2 them like Assassin's Creed or Stargate, LOTR, Chronicles of Narnia, A.C. Clark stories, P.K. Dick stories, Starship Troopers (although I wood like 2 c a less humorous reboot), Indiana Jones universe, Tomb Raider universe, some but not all James Bond movies, many but not all war movies, Godzilla universe, and much more.

 

Star Wars is #1 for me!
2. Halo Universe (Any Halo lovers?)
3. Marvel
4. Harry Potter
5. Lord of the Rings
6. Battlefield
7. Call of Duty

But looking at everyone's definition of 'franchise' as something you're obsessed by, buying tickets, memorabilia, etc so really music should be in there as should sports teams (Southend United & Chicago Cubs).

 

I would say 1. Star Wars,without question ,its like an old childhood friend in terms of familiarity,you can quote entire franchise in sequence 100 percent verbatim,I even like the prequels simply because their Star Wars and have some great concepts and stunning visuals, and TFA is totally gaining ground with me,their the only films I go multiple times for a cinematic release ever,and its so universal that you can talk about it forever.

When I think abt Marvel I tought the first "Iron man" was great but the rest of the franchise s kinda "meh" for me,i get why they are popular I ,just not for me.

I dont really think of LOTR as a franchise ,more then a very long movie divided in three parts,I guess with the Hobbit its a franchise,but still two very long movies cut up in regular feature lenght,its maybe because I read the books as a kid and dont really regard them as sequels to each other.

I guess I like some movies thats part of other franchises but not to the same degree as SW.

My top three favorite franchises (as far as movies go, anyway), would be Star Wars tied with The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Speed Racer (the 2008 film).

 

i will limit myself to top five, to try and avoid forgetting anything.

4) Ghost in the Shell
5) Terminator

 

Star Wars. That's it.
I love Tolkien but I cringe at the idea of it as a "franchise".
