He was hanging out with Thanos, pursuing their shared interests of sitting in chairs and having other people do their work for them.

 

Snokey was singing of course!

Their duets were awesome dude!

 

I would watch that movie.

as it stands now, they're the big bads of the movie, looking all evil with red sabers and dark side force powers, standing against the light, and there's no meaningful distinction between what kylo and snoke are vs any of the other sith in the movies, so i'm calling sith

 

I was going to mention this as a possibility since everything else has been covered. I like all the theorys and can't wait for the answers. He undoubtedly was some type of teacher at the academy possibly as I don't believe all the blame is on Luke. I like the idea that he was a former advisor to Palpatine. I like the idea he is Darth Plagueis or even his master. If he's an all new character that's fine too but it has to include some backstory to the PT on where he started and where he was during the OT in preparations to become a "Supreme Leader".
