JRD is still alive, why couldn't Sallah have been in Indy 4?

A better question would be, what would Sallah have been doing in South America? [face_thinking]

Sallah and Indy have been on the outs since he took those camels. Indy told him NO CAMELS!

Sallah only appears in odd-numbered installments. Which will fit perfectly when the fifth film returns to the Middle East in search of a Muslim relic, following the natural "odd-numbered movies" progression from Judaism to Christianity to Islam.

    Or not.

As neat as it would be to see Indy pursue an Islamic relic, there is no way that would ever blow over well with Muslims.

Indiana Jones and the Mountain of Mohammed.

Indy goes on a quest to find the legendary Mountain which Mohammed moved, and finds it was actually moved with a system of cogs and pulleys of an alien design. The mountain then lifts off before blasting off into the atmosphere.

It's 1956 innit? Sallah would be caught up in the Suez Crisis, then.

Indy, Mutt, Marion, Mac, Oxley AND Sallah?

    Isn't that way too crowded?

I think there was a picture of Sallah in Indy's house.

The movie is set in 1957, not 1956.

A better question would be, what would Sallah have been doing in South America?

    Now that's a good question.

I totally agree. There was no need to have Sallah appear in the film.

Doesn't matter, since the Suez Crisis lasted until 1957.

I wonder if he'd still have been involved in that kind of stuff, at his age. ;)

Apparently JRD was asked back but had commitments elsewhere...doing a Uwe Boll flick and some sci-fi "original" Anaconda sequels/ripoffs. [face_plain]

    That saddens me.

Perhaps Sallah is now working for the Egyptian national heritage trying to get back all the stuff that was taken out of Egypt.

Which also doesn't matter, because this whole idea is stupid.

In my opinion, starting with Last Crusade, GL and SS became way too preoccupied with imposing some kind of continuity on the Indiana Jones movies. Sallah's reappearance along with Brody in Last Crusade was the biggest indication of this, but they went completely nuts on Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, beating us over the head with Marion's reappearance and multiple references to Henry Sr. and Brody (not to mention the govt warehouse from Raiders). If Sallah had shown up in Crystal Skull on top of the rest of that, I might have walked out of the theater.
