    I voted the "lesser degree" choice. However I feel only certain droids have sentience. It is portrayed that to a certain degree R2D2 and C3P0 have some sentience, but I don't feel battle droids do.

    Interesting subject of debate though! Thanks!

    IMHO their sentience is programming. I admit that is hard to say, as I like the droids as personalities, but probably not as persons. I also say that it is possible that a droid might be able to evolve some sort of sentience,

    No, any perceived sentience is simulated/programmed.

    I posit most droids are programmed to mimic sentience but some droids had sophisticated programming which evolved into sentience.

    R2-D2 and C3-PO are those exceptions.
