Has to be LA. I had the LA driving adventure a few months back, where you keep going and going...

    and going...

and three hours later, you're still in LA!

It was fun though. I had a convertible ;) .

    Chicks dug me...

I'm pretty sure, Jacksonville is the largest city in the U.S. It is only all of Duval County and everything. It's the largest areawise.

Slacker, LA is almost all of LA county, with the exception of smaller cities like Santa MOnica and Beverly Hills, LA is LA county, plus if you consider the metro area it is also all of Orange County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County....

It's bigger than it knows what to do with itself. If the San Ferando secedes from the city as they are hoping to do this November, The Valley would be the 6th largest city in the country.

i don't think that will ever pass, KR. i fail to see the point to it. life here in Northridge is fine, & i'm happy with it. it would be be cool if the Valley became it's own city, i just don't see the point.

But are all those areas Los Angeles proper or individual cities in the Greater Los Angeles area?

In LA county, there is Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Compton, and Santa Monica. I'm still a newbie to this region, so any other SoCal'ers can correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's all of the cities in LA county.

Y'know, I think the thing is that personally I am for secession. I live in Hollywood and I know that city services suck here. The roads are atrocious, even with all the new development here. LA is just too big for its own good. I mean 12 million people in one area, most of them under one city government. It's no wonder things are so awful here.

I hate cities that grow out instead of up. The city I live in has 55,000 people, and is about the same size as Knoxville, which holds roughly twice as many people. Our city is like a big doughnut, everything is concentrated into a ring around this vacant, hollow area that was once the center of the city.

there's Pasadena, Studio City, Bel Air, Brentwood, & others, that i can't think about, KR. btw, i was discussing the sucession with my friends dad, and he made a good point: at the moment, you & me use the services of L.A. if there would be a sucession, we would be under the same services,(fire, police, etc.) just under a different name. i also told him that instead of a succesion, Valley politicans can work with other L.A. politicans to sort any mess out. all what really needs to happen is some teamwork into improving services in parts of L.A., without the need for sucession.

I live in a town with a population of 8 million. (BTW, there is much more to New York city than the island of Manhattan, so you're sort of cheating by only counting Manhattan and not the rest of the city)
