Which did you like better, Empire or Jedi?

It also had Leia nearly nude for most of scenes with Jabba, the Emperor, Luke kicking lots of ass including Darth Vader, the Rebels being victorious, Vader renouncing the Dark Side and killing the Emperor, the revelation of Leia being Luke's sister, and the SE celebration.

I prefer ROTJ.

But ROTJ because Anakin's redemption is my favorite scene of the saga

 

Jedi

 

Empire simply because there are no "re-hashed" moments. ROTJ is littered with them (very reminiscient of ANH). I can understand the nostalgia attached to ROTJ simply because of the "positive" note that it ends on. However, as a film-buff, Empire is not only the best SW film (IMO of course , it is not only one of the finest sequels ever created, but it also expands the SW mythos to a whole new level. Empire now embraces the idea the not all in the universe is "fair", and the good-guys don't always win. As far as artistic merit, Empire exceeds any of the other films because it creates a feeling of foreboding from the locals, to the music, to the colour correction (of a sort) process used... the list goes on. The script is at it's most refined in this film... witty and edgy dialogue that never strays into the the overbearing. "Economy" is the watchword of this film which is most evident in the editing of the movie. There are few "chase" films that can match the intelligent pacing of this film. Every scene is required (not really talking about the '97 "re-issue"). The plot devices used are very simple yet highly effective, and term "Space Opera" is easily attached to this piece with the revealing "Luke, I am your father". ROTJ tries this to a lesser degree but for some reason the Leia reveal lacks the punch most likely because it was really an afterthought once George realised that he wasn't going to make a sequel to ROTJ, to tie up "loose ends".

Again, long story short (too late ), EMPIRE is my favorite SW films and one of my top ten favorite films of all time as well.

rotj is very good and definetly my second favourite (whats wrong with muppets? yoda was a muppet and the ewoks had rocks! big rocks!).

Actually, yes you are, because IIRC there were no new scenes added for the ESB SE.

There was an extended scene which lengthened the Falcon's approach to Cloud City. That made the movie look prettier IMHO.

I think he's referring to the extra scenes of Vader's shuttle, which most definitely were NOT neccesary.

 

Empire is my favorite SW film. A true classic from beginning to end.

However, I could watch the last third of ROTJ 10 times in a row and not think twice about it. I think I actually watch ROTJ more often than any other SW film, but just parts, especially that last 1/3.

If they could just do something about that middle third of ROTJ ... Yawn ...

 

I agree with those who think TESB is overrated. I mean the film is good in quality, and the story works for a once-in-awhile viewing, but it just doesn't have the rewatchability of some of the other SW movies, and rewatchability is usually how I pick my favorite movies.


I like RotJ more. I like the darkness of TESB, I like seeing Vader at his baddest, and I like watching Yoda train Luke, but everything else in the movie is just not fantastic enough for me to want to watch this one over and over like I would RotJ or AotC.

 

Empire...because it's the first intimate moment with han and leia....right Dagobah1234?

ROTJ, but ESB is not far behind.
I love that Final duel in ROTJ.

I think that Episode 3 is goin to great.

Difficult choice.

Both have good & bad moments.

In ROTJ I don't like Jabba's Palace & Endor arrival that much and in ESB the hoth scenes before the battle & the scenes inside the asteroid.

ROTJ had superb emotions and Ian McDiarmid playing Palpatine.
ESB had superior quality but a chimp looking old lady playing Palpatine.

So, I'd say ROTJ!!!!

 

Empire. But A New Hope is my all time favorite.

 

Empire is much better than Jedi. Although Jedi was good it had Ewoks. Empire never had anything cute in it at all. But Jedi did solve many questions left un-answered but still Empire is better.

 

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK!!!!

It has the best story, music and some of the best acting of the OT. It also features some of the best dialogue in the entire saga:

Han: ...then why are you following me? Afraid I might leave without giving you a goodbye kiss?

Leia: I'd just as soon kiss a wookie!

Han: I can arrange that. You could use a good kiss!
