I started Star Wars Roleplaying using WEG, when WOTC came out I found it hard for the switch. So I'm still a WEG man.

Yes, it is true that West End Games did go out of business. This was due to the owner pumping WEG's profits into another company of his that was doing badly. In reference to an earlier comment about skills I was simply stating that skills are not the focus of the d20 game system. Although, it is a matter of preference. However, when I was refering to WOTC's bastardization of Pokemon and Magic I was implying that they have/will do the same with Star Wars. In regards to art I was saying the drawn art not taken from the motion pictures. The drawn art in the D20 version is indeed juvenile to the utmost, just look at the Invasion of Theed set.

West End Games' D6 system remains the best roleplaying system ever.

And this is still just an opinion.

Of coruse it's just opinion. That's what we're talking about here--not which is actually superior, because it depends on your point of view!

I personally prefer WEG, mostly because I dislike the class and level system of WOTC. While the new WOTC rules are fine and good if that's all you have, if I have the option of doing D6, I will, every time, even if I don't have sourcebooks, because, heck, I make most of the stuff up anyway. I like the flexibility and understandibility of the D6 system. (Which means I'm actually one step away from converting everything to FUDGE anyway.) :)

Don`t know if this is true, but my games supplier told me that WEG supported its parent company for years and then when the financial support was needed the other way, the parent company cut them off.

    Pretty much as JediJason said.

    Well, that sounds interesting.

I still perfer d6, mainly cause of the level thing. It puts too much restriction on character developement, IMO.

Does this fix the speed of starfighters?
I don`t like the fact that all starfighters move at the same speed (ramming). Maybe there is something I haven`t seen in the rules.

The Jedi classes don`t seem to get many skill points either and they have to use them to buy some Force using skills and normal skills, at least WEG was only three skills.
Though I will admit that many Force users pile their character points into Control, Sense or Alter.

As for starship speed, the new starship combat rules do give each ship its own speed rating.

As for Jedi and skill points, I think that they have plenty. The D6 Force power system is abominable, and had no sense of balance.
