ST Which Force Ghosts will we see and how will they interact with the ST?

Which Ghosts will show up in Episode 9? What do you want them to do in Episode 9? Should they show up at all?

 

Luke looking at a younger Obi-Wan: Who are you?
Yoda: Face Lift Master Kenobi has had hmmm
Obi-Wan: I thought it might appeal to the younger crowd.
Yoda: A Jedi craves not these things.
Obi-Wan side eyes Master Yoda for his own younger less whiskered appearance.
Luke: I don't need an audience.
Obi-Wan: Oh we know, that's why the girl ran from you and you almost burned down that tree.

A confused Rey looks on and eventually turns and walks away.

Yoda: Lost another one you have.

I would go to the movie just to see this.

 

I would love to see Anakin, Luke and Leia in a scene together. Would tie the Saga together.

 

You have to ask "Who does Rey know?" The only answer is Luke.

Otherwise, it'd be like Qui-Gon showing up at the end of ROTJ.

I think they should include all the Force ghosts helping the new force sensitives in their journey, from Qui-gon to Luke, to becoming Jedi but the ghosts they could show concerning Rey I think could be Luke obviously, Obi-wan since he’s called out to her through the Force before, and maybe Yoda. Anakin would be better suited for Ren for obvious reasons and that would not only be great but a long time coming. I think it would also be comical if either Yoda or Obi-wan had a chat with Ren just because it’s Yoda and Ren was named after Obi-wan after all.

Luke's ghost can interact with Yoda, Anakin, and Obi-Wan (and maybe Leia). Kylo can interact with Luke and Anakin. But Rey, if she sees any, would see Luke, Leia, and maybe Ben Solo.

 

Oh that would be a very cool contrast with Ren and Anakin.

 

I'd like to see what "the netherworld" is actually like in GFFA. We've seen Force Ghosts from the "living world" but we've never seen them in their own world.

Did Luke have to "transcend" into the Netherworld in order to do something? That's the question. If he did then the options of what happens next and who else we can see becomes limitless.

I think Rian (and Lucas) would go there in the ST but I'm not sure JJ Abrams has the bottle...

It will just be Luke.

Force ghosts are there for the still living's benefit.

There's no reason to bring back Yoda or Obi Wan ghosts, because none of the main characters knew them. (Chewie and droids don't count).

There's a very long shot that Anakin ghost may haunt Kylo. Buts that only a 1% chance. If he hasn't done it by now, there's no point.

In IX, they'll focus all their "force ghost attention" on Luke, since it's his first time being one.

 

I can't see Anakin haunting Kylo. If anything, I could see him trying to redeem him, but I feel like that ship has sailed.

 

The Force ghosts can influence but can't intervene. For a purely practical explanation, Snoke could have prevented Anakin from reaching Ben and with his demise, the block could have been lifted or something. But I like to think of a possibility that Anakin won't commune with Kylo, until Kylo himself is ready to reflect, accept his own responsibility for his actions and turn over a new page. Anakin, of all the people, should be pushing for his grandson to have a life, a chance to work at healing the galaxy, to have this opportunity he was denied. If the new Jedi are to set the things right, to remedy the mistakes of the past, then Ben's atonement would be Anakin's own.

If there is a moment in IX, where the scales fall off and Kylo comes to realization of the true nature of his condition, then that should be the moment where Anakin comes in with encouragement and support and spurs him to make the next move.

Other than that, it's pretty clear that Luke seems to intend to act as Kylo's spiritual guide. I don't think any of the Force ghost should visit Rey, though. The entire point of her being the first of the new Jedi, is that she is an outsider, unconnected from and not shaped by the past of the Order. Luke, Obi-Wan or Yoda guiding her would defeat the purpose of cutting the direct ties with the old system. Though, to indulge the fanboy in me, I would love Qui-Gon to be acknowledged and have a presence in the story in some way. It's a near certainty that Rey is going to come to the same conclusions regarding the Jedi and thus follow Qui-Gon's will even without directly realizing it, so his influence should be felt all over the story, but as a bookend to the Saga, the man who started it all and served as the ur-example of the new Jedi ideal should come around and close it too, as his dream at last becomes a reality.

 

I say no force ghost.

 

Luke and Anakin will have scenes talking. All of the ghosts will appear at the end of the film.

 

Nah. Luke will talk to Rey, since the last time he saw her ended abrubtly and aggressively.

He'll acknowledge her, as an enlightened ghost with his blessings.

 

I don't know if we'll see any but if we do it will be Luke.

But I see no reason for him to come back. The point of TLJ is that Rey is on her own so what's the point of Luke coming back?

 

I would say it has sailed if he had killed his mother.

 

We don't actually know WHO inhabits it. It might not even be limited to force sensitives.

All we have in canon is this from Yoda
"An old friend has learned the path to immortality. One who has returned from the Netherworld of the Force."

All we know is who has thus far found a way to RETURN from the Netherworld NOT who is actually there. Could be every living creature that ever died ! (sorry droids!)

I like to think Palpatine and Yoda have become Netherworld tennis partners.

 

OMG. That last part is gold. This is Canon now.

 

Probably just Luke at this point.

It's about the new characters after all.

 

If It is just Luke I wonder if he will say he is not the only force ghost.

 

Didn't JJ say something about how EP9 will connect ALL the trilogies together? That has to mean an appearance by Anakin I'd think.

 

Yep he said it will connect back to both the Original and Prequel trilogy.
