Well, I grew up (like so many chillins) with Jedi being my favorite. However, I have to go with the following:

1. ESB
2. AOTC
3. ROTJ
4. ANH
5. TPM

Thank God for Star Wars.

Jedi is my favorite, and I don't have a good reason why.

Well, if we have to pick a favorite episode, Jedi used to be mine, but right now I'm truly, deeply in love with CLONES

Is that...legal?

Meh, I don't wanna hear it. Everyone knows I'm the most indecisive person, and I never have any idea what's going on. ;)

My order changes too frequently.

ANH, because it is the original. Without it, we never would have ESB, ROTJ, TPM, or AOTC.:)

I voted for ESB. AOTC might be second.

There are actually two "best" Star Wars movies.

for story telling
Empire Strikes Back

for CGI
Attack of the Clones

wishing the "original" three would come out on DVD

Just give George sometime and I am sure soon the OT will be out on DVD and with a whole bundle of extras and interviews...

The Original Trilogy will NOT be released on DVD, so if you have the Laserdisc version or know someone who does, maybe they can make you a copy of it. Only the Special Editions of the Original Trilogy...

I'm sure he'll change them even more before he releases them on DVD. The Super Special Ultimate Final Editions. :p

He's already said he is (going to change them more, that is). If anyone is curious about this, you can go to the Archieval Editions Discussion Thread in the Saga Forum for known details on what has been said in this regards, and speculation as to what he's going to change.

ESB
I grew up with only the TV versions of ANH and ROTJ, so I never really understood ROTJ. :( Finally, when I saw ESB it all made sense. Made me a very happy camper and still does. I've still got to watch it about 300 more times to catch up with how many times I've seen the other two OTs.

As for the Prequels....::shrug:: They focus a lot more on the CGI than I would like.

I still think Lucas will relent and offer the original cuts. Fan and media backlash would be too severe if he didn't. He may only include them in a super duper expensive-as-hell box set similar to what Univeral was going to with the theatrical version of E.T. on DVD before Spielberg stepped in. But one way or another, he'll cave in on this one.

My only question is if the man insists on waiting til 2006 or possibly later to release these films, will the DVD format already be obsolete thanks to HD-DVD?

Not at all. Not very many people I know own an HDTV capable of viewing HD-DVDs. Shoot, some are JUST getting a DVD player. People will start to upgrade their stuff, but the regular DVD format will be here for a while before the majority of people feel the need to start upgrading.

I'd be happy if George put, on the DVDs, an option to view the original cut. It's possible with DVDs, I think it'd be a neat little feature.
