Title. Which is your favourite, the most entertaining, and why? I've included every duel that has happened at least twice in TCW. Interesting fact: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Grievous have dueled the most times, with a total of 5 lightsaber duels in the show. Interesting fact #2: Obi-Wan Kenobi has the most lightsaber duels overall, with a total of 12 lightsaber duels in the show.
I would have to say my favourite lightsaber battle would have to be between Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul. The battle at the end of Season 4 and the fight they have in Revival is just superb. It for me is amazing. And probably one of my most watching lightsaber fights. I am also partial to Ahsoka vs Grievous (the 2nd time) as that is also animated brilliantly.
Eeth Koth vs. General Grievous because it not only was something different but it is one of my absolute favourite scenes in the entire show.
I'm a little disappointed Obi-Wan alone vs Asajj Ventress isn't up there! Their banter (which reached new heights with the Season 4 finale) is always great. Without that option, I went for Obi-Wan vs Grievous. Although I shared a lot of people's disappointment back in Season 1 that Grievous wasn't as badass as the rest of the EU made him be, I've come to have a real fondness for his over-the-top theatrical villainy. "Hah hah hah the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi ends here!" etc.
The reason I didn't have them alone is because Obi-Wan only faces Asajj twice in this series: "The Hidden Enemy" and "Nightsisters". And both times Anakin is also present. In hindsight, I should have probably had Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul & Savage Opress instead of just Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul, since Savage is present in both duels.
Interesting. So far, it seems that bringing Darth Maul back and making Obi-Wan his target has been successful. Most intriguing that this outdoes Obi-Wan vs. Grievous - a rivalry that has been long-set up.
Most memorable for me was Dooku vs Ventress because of its emotion, character development, relevance to the plot, etc....
This list reminds me of dull most lightsaber duels are in TCW. Ventress vs Anakin and Obi-Wan have decent banter, I guess.
My favorite duel in the series was probably either Obi-wan vs Vizla with the darksaber (yeah Vizsla was out classed but it looked cool and different) or the dual between Anakin and Dooku in "Crisis on Naboo". However Dooku and Anakin is totally played out. I guess I'll give my vote to Obi-wan and Anakin in a three way with Ventress since that duel in "Hidden Enemy" is still a stand out and has some awesome use of the force. I like the banter but now and again Obi-wan and Ventress make me want to roll my eyes with their flurting. Oh wait, we we're supposed to vote for rivalries huh? I guess I'll call that my favorite rivalry.
Which makes Grievous' "I've been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku" line all the more ridiculous.
Gotta say the only duels that have held any tension for me have been the Ventress vs. Dooku ones because when they occurred she really could have been killed off. Hope to see maybe one more at most, but who knows where her character is going. Though really in terms of choreography I have to give it to the Maul/Kenobi duels. Those have been visually superb.
Yeah, for most of the show, Ventress was the only one who could possibly die. Savage, Maul, and now that we're getting late in the show, possibly Ahsoka have joined her.
Which makes Grievous' "I've been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku" line all the more ridiculous. Doesn't mean sabre combat, maybe Grievous likes painting with his foe's blood, seems Jedi like.
