ST Which mysteries might stay unanswered?

There's a 30 years gap that a lot happened and there has been little to no information given about what took place, and how?
1) What happened that tore apart the Solo family and made Leia decide Ben needed to train with Luke? I mean it was significant enough for Han to walk out and literally abandon Ben and 2) Leia, and was too much for Leia to even deal with.
3) How does an upstart padwan destroy an entire Jedi academy right under the nose of the Jedi who defeated Darth Vader?
4) Who is Ray and how did she end up on Jakku?
5) Who is Snoke and where did he come from?
6) How did he seize control of such a huge part of the old Empire?
7) How did Maz end up with the Lightsaber?

There are the big things The Last Jedi needs to answer. IMHO

 

If we get answers to at least half of these, then I could accept the rest being covered in episode IX. But if any of this is left open ended by the end of episode IX then in my opinion it will do serious damage to the ST.

I guess I should've phrased the question as to Why instead or in addition too.how.

All in All I think it was a poor decision to do it.

 

This is assuming Rey is Luke's daughter (a theory I don't like but where things seem to be headed):

I don't think VIII and IX are enough to give any background info on who her mother is and what she's like. Remember that Luke and Leia's mother was barely mentioned in the original trilogy. I don't know if it was plot or time issues but it took nearly twenty years before they can introduce Padme.

I think they are looking to explore her character and relationship with Luke in a spin-off series like Star Wars Rebels that's set in-between RotJ and TFA.

I think you're right on the money with this one. This and how exactly Maz got Anakin's lightsaber. I don't think either will be divulged in the films but rather through novels and television series. I can see an animated series with Luke and his future baby mama meeting and running around defending the galaxy in the time after RotJ and before TFA

 

Likely scenario is another CGI-based animated TV series like Rebels or Clone Wars. I'm open to it.

I'm banking on Lando scavenging the lightsaber from Cloud City based on the preview chapters for Aftermath: Empire's End. They might reveal how Maz got the lightsaber in the movies only, depending on how important it is plot-wise. I'd say it is somewhat important because Maz said "A good question... for another time" in TFA. It would disappoint the people who didn't read the supplementary material

- how the stormtrooper training program works and what "reconditioning" entails; and if hux will be making changes to the program (although perhaps that will be mentioned...)
- what happened to lando?
- if finn or poe are FS haha
- how many midichlorians the force users of the trilogy have *disappointed*
- (former?) force ghost yoda and what he's up to now?
- (former?) force ghost qui-gon jinn and anything about him
- why the FO likes rathtars (please no more rathtars)
