Which of the 6 films is your FAVORITE?

my kids dont see the appeal of the OT .. ( ATOC is thier fav, & they love jar jar!!) they are 12 & 13, and after seeing EP, I II III, i finally showed them IV V VI, and they felt they were lacking in effects, not enough planets, the visual stuff,etc... they also said the stories were very simple and not "complicated" like the PT. they actually thought "a new hope" was boring compared to the rest!!

they ask to watch ep I & II many times, went to see ep III 5 times, and have not asked to see the OT again ( yet) of course they have grown up in a different time,

So yes, ep III is the best film of them of them all, it made ep I & II much better to watch again, and i have always liked the OT ... part III gives it a whole new perspective,

My favorite is still The Empire Strikes Back.

Vader really comes into his own, and goes from cartoon character to Dark Lord who has a a past.

I know that my kids will say one of the prequels.

 

Sorry dad. The OT is just a little bit too slow, but is still good plotwise, so Empire is good, but not great. Honestly, Mr. Lucas should jazz it up a bit.

But I would say of the older movies, Empire is the best.

I think Menace and Sith are tied for the best. If it weren't for Jar Jar, it would be Menace hands down. Clones is good, too.

Qui Gon and Palpatine are #1 in Menace! Throw in the baddest, Maul, WOW!!

 

I have a Catch-22.

ROTS wouldn't be my favorite if it weren't for the emotional set-up that AOTC provided. But then AOTC wouldn't be an emotional setup if it weren't for TPM. So which film do I like? The end result or the films that made ROTS what it was?

Exactly. I thought the next edition was beter then the one before it. ROTS just blows away all though.

Ok here it goes, but i ust want everyone to know, sometimes theres a difference between the best one(the most well made, in your opinion) and your favorite.

1. Return of the Jedi(Its always been my favorite, and i think the climax is..its just so good!)

2. Revenge of the Sith(The most skillfully made, in my opinion, and the most emotional...overall.)

3. The Empire Strikes Back(Bespin's Awesome! Yoda's Awesome! Luke is awesome!)

4. Attack of the Clones(Jango: Sweet, Battle of Geonosis: Fantastic, Kamino, ya!)

5. The Phantom Menace(Killer lightsaber fight!)

6. A New Hope(10/10, like the rest of them, its just...its the original, but...its the least exciting. But totally cool! Death Star Battle, One of the best battles ever!)

 

Strong arguments can be made for just about any of the SW films, so I won't even try to grade them against one another. One thing I do believe strongly though, Revenge of the Sith will likely become the popular favorite for a great deal of people as the years pass by.

Looking at the breakdown of votes is quite interesting: TPM and AOTC only have one percent of the vote each. Kinda sad.

You know alot of people say that ESB is the best of the lot. But I think if the internet was widely available back then as it is today, I would say that ROTS would be the hands down winner as being the best of the series. Because the main reason people say ESB is the best is because of the surprise that Vader was Luke's father. I think with the internet that shocking and secret twist would have been revealed way before the movie would've been released in theaters and it wouldn't have as much power in regards to the element of surprise in that scene.

I don't agree. There are many things that make ESB the best. The Battle of Hoth. The Asteriod Field. Training with Yoda! Carbon Freezing Chamber! THE DUEL! Lando's Betrayal. Han "I'm so tough I pull my blaster on Darth Vader" Solo.

 

u seem to imply that the only reason that esb is so loved is bc of the huge twist at the end. this is not so. this only adds to the greatness that is this film. the twist is also possibly the the best in all of film. this example you give did not happen for the 6th Sense, or the Others, Unbreakable, the Village, and i'm sure many more. if people want to remain spoiler-free, they can.

why is it the best?
1. esb has the best acting of any sw film.
2. it has the best character development of any sw film.
3. the best cinematography of any sw film.
4. the intro to the greatest mentor-type character in FILM history.
5. still excellent special fx.
6. the intro of the imperial march theme and the emperor.
7. the best saber fight of any sw film.
8. vader at his scariest.
9. and the greatest surprise in FILM history.
10. the diversity of environments: hoth, dagobag, asteroid field, bespin.
11. the use of humor - in the RIGHT places!

My favorite Star Wars film is Revenge of the Sith. The film is emotional and connects to the OT very well.
