Anakin's theme from TPM is haunting and beautiful.

Its close between TPM (whose score is one of the few good parts of the movie) and ROTS, but I'd eventually go with TPM's film score.

Haha your post is a little all over. AOTC is a score, which is the focus of this poll. Yoda and the Younglings is a track from that score. Leia's theme is not a score, it's a recurring theme from the Episode IV score.

    1) The Phantom Menace
    2) The Empire Strikes Back
    3) Revenge of the Sith
    4) The Last Jedi
    5) Attack of the Clones
    6) Return of the Jedi
    7) The Force Awakens
    8) A New Hope

TPM easily tops my list, but they are all amazing. If I included the Anthology films, Rogue One would be after TFA, and Solo would be after ANH.

This may be an impossible task for me, because each film has its own unique musical identity despite the similarities they share, and each one is so great in its own right. I mean you can say that about the films too, but somehow they’re easier to rank even if I might change my mind in an hour.

I sleep to all of the Star Wars music most nights, and I usually start with whatever album is my favorite at the moment, so lately I guess it’s been The Phantom Menace. Recently I got into A New Hope’s music in a bigger way than I have in a long time though.

Sirry for the double post, but it’s been a week.

After some consideration, I cast my vote for A New Hope. It was a tough choice because some of the other scores are more emotionally moving, but I have to give credit to ANH for being a stroke of genius that propelled the entire concept of what Star Wars could be into a realm where it never would have existed otherwise.

Williams’s music instantly became an indelible part of our cultural consciousness, and it’s no surprise that it was the only element of that original film which not only met but exceeded Lucas’s hopes and expectations.

I like TFA best. Jedi Steps, March of the Resistance, Rey's theme plus the music elements of the OT.
Simply the most amount of great JW themes in one single movie

The Empire Strikes Back soundtrack is prettier than most ... less bombastic.

Nothing is wrong with bombast, but I do get a bit tired of the IM coming up so frequently in the TESB score. Similar to how overused the Raiders March was in ROTLA and Hedwig's Theme in HPATSS.

My favorite JW SW scores is a tie between TFA and ESB. I love Rey's theme, it's gorgeous.

    5. Return of the Jedi

I like all of them, but TESB is at the top of the mountain.

Shocked that ROTJ has that few votes in the poll. Sail Barge?...Rancor Pit? Jabba's Palace? Emperor's theme? Luke vs Vader? Luke and Leia sibling theme? I know a couple of tracks get repeated but there is enough excellent new themes and tracks here. The only disappointment I had in ROTJ's score was the generic SW theme playing as Lando and the X-Wings fly inside the DS to blow it up. Could have done something diff there. And the land battle at the end could have been better all around.

    Anyways my rankings:
    1. ANH.
    2. ESB
    3. ROTJ
    4. TPM
    5. ROTS
    6. TFA
    7. AOTC
    8. TLJ

Empire every time. It’s almost like a traditional album to me, in that I can put it on anytime and listen to it. Its got so many memorable tracks and motifs that have become iconic over the years, and just like the film expands the world of Star Wars I think the soundtrack does the same. For me this and Raiders are my top soundtracks of all time. But let’s be honest the originals have had 40 years to be engrained on our brains, much more so than the later films.
