Which one was it really?

I'm not sure which cos I'm not sure what I think of destiny.

 

I think it depends on whether you believe in the prophecy or not...
If you consider the prophecy to be real, then it had to be destiny.
The consequence of Anakins turning to the bad side was that his son grew up the way he had to, in order to make Vader turn againts the Emperor and to the Light side again. Everything that happens to Anakin seems to be schemed (by destiny) to allow him, "the chosen one", to bring balance to the force...
so...IMO, it was destiny...but whith a nice shot of choice, since it were his choices which made things go the way they did....I think, had he behaved somehow differently, he would have ended up bringing balance to the force as well....

I believe it was both. Anakin was destined to bring balance to the Force, however the path leading up to that was his own choice. If he hadn't turned, he would have stilled fulfilled the Prophecy, because that was his destiny.

 

Hmm, actually I think it's choice. I thought about it. I don't think it was destiny for him to go to the darkside. That was all choice. His choices led him to the darkside which lead him to fulfilling his destiny. But he could have fulfilled that prophecy on the side of the light as well.

 

It does, but then again I've also seen a hell of a lot worse.

 

Its destiny. He was destined to bring balance to the force. Him turning into Vader is the worse before it gets better. The Jedi needed to be cleaned up to be reborn in a way. By Anakin turning to the Darkside he wiped out the Jedi. When Vader defeated Palps he brought balance to the force. When Luke formed the New Jedi Order he started a better changed Jedi order. Everything happenes for a reason.

i think it was his destiny to go to the darkside because of the dream he had, its the dream that set off the chain of events that led him to the darkside, he didnt make up the dream on his own, it came to him through his powers! I.E the force!

 

The dream was a warning: This will happen if you try to prevent it. It will happen because you fear it.
Anakin's fear spawned the dream. He never understood that, though.

His destiny was: to have Palpatine after him since as a child (bad luck indeed).

His fall was a choice.

 

His choice was his destiny.

 

I agree with the destiny to balance the Force / choice to join the Dark Side faction.

He was always going to balance the Force, but his choices determined how that happened. It's like a Greek traagedy in that way.

 

Choice.

I believe the Prophecy told the DESTINATION of the Chosen One. That much was set in stone. Now, how the Chosen One achieves that are based off of the choices that he makes throughout his life.
