PT Which scenes in ROTS would you cut?

I wouldn't cut whole scenes and I agree with a majority of what the previous posters said, I would add in the scenes where Padme, Bail Organa, and Mon Mothma were meeting and setting the framework for the rebellion since it helps flesh out characters and world building for Eps IV-VI as well as combine the character building they did for Padme over the courses of Episodes I-II (Unlike with Leia in the CT, I do think Padme had the possibility of being presented as a fully realized female main character but when the editing of RotS was done with making it Anakin's story, Padme was presented within a very narrow archetype when she could've been presented as a melding of the two facets shown of her as the political mover and shaker Amidala in TPM and the softer woman behind the mask Padme in AotC, only matured). I also like PiettsHat's suggestion that the scene between Anakin and Palpatine discussing constitutional changes be added back in since it helps establish more justification for how Anakin could be seduced by Palpatine to the dark side. Also, the fact that the political scenes were deleted seems to be a weird truncating of the political vein the PT always had, which I feel helps differentiate it from the CT and is one of the more important characteristics it had because it helps explain a lot of the background stuff that the CT didn't focus on in order to go to the action.

However, although I do think that the scenes that made it into the theatrical release of RotS are necessary, I agree too that they should've tweaked the editing a lot more. The balcony scene I feel is necessary because it's one of the rare breather scenes before everything went down the crapper and helped establish just why Anakin was ready to throw everything away. However, the exchange did go on for a bit too long so perhaps cutting down a bit on the dialogue (not doing away with it completely) might tighten it up a bit. I'd actually rearrange the sequencing of the birth of the twins because it doesn't seem to make logical sense to me that the droid announced that Padme was failing against all medical sense and then it cuts to Padme giving birth, looking perfectly healthy except for the strain she was showing while giving birth. Even when you add in the EU explanation that Anakin's Force choke did microscopic damage to her trachea that the incompetent medical droids couldn't detect, it doesn't make sense with that sequencing because she was crying and could obviously speak without too much difficulty. So I feel like they should have placed that announcement from the droid AFTER she'd already given birth and let people decide for themselves if they think the strain of the birth did her in, the Force choke, or whatever other explanations were dreamed up. Although it can be argued that the medical droid's announcement could be cut altogether to make it even more ambiguous.

Now, in regards to stuff that didn't get filmed, I really wish that they had a way to get Liam Neeson into the schedule so they could film or record Qui-Gon Jinn talking to Yoda about what he learned about Force ghosting because I feel that the throwaway reference of Yoda telling Obi-wan about Qui-Gon is not as satisfying a resolution of the Force ghost thread they had been building since TPM. It would also help mirror Obi-Wan's Force ghost presence throughout the CT if Qui-Gon's presence held through all of the PT.

Of course, all of my suggestions still doesn't take away that I think RotS was the best of the PT and the culmination of everything they'd been building up with TPM and AotC but like with George Lucas and his incessant fiddling with the CT (this is another topic altogether though), I feel that RotS can also be improved upon in small ways to make it even more awesome.

ROTS is my second favourite in the saga...despite the birth scene being not overtly convincing, however i selectively believe that the birth did not kill her or the loosing the will to live etc but Anakin's force choke did... this changes her character to noble and brave, staying alive long enough to give birth. I think people forget about the force choke and go on about her dying of a broken heart when maybe...maybe thats what a force choke does, breaks the heart metephorically.. She should look a lot nearer death and maybe a real midwife rather than a robot one would have helped...or just an established medical droid.

I know this sounds predictable but I would cut the Vader NOOOO! scene. I almost think you don't need any new dialogue from James Earl Jones. Seeing him in that suit needs no elaboration.

The scene between Anakin and Padme on her balcony ("It's only because I'm so in love." "No, it's because I'm so in love with you." etc).

Horrible dialog, horrible directing, horrible acting.

Since people are talking about what they would have added, you know what I thought would have been a cool addition, that I was hoping we'd see? In E5, Vader tells Luke "you can destroy the Emperor, he has foreseen this."

I thought it would have been cool to see Palpatine having one such vision.... maybe he was meditating and having a vague vision of the events from the end of E6. Maybe present it in such a way as to mislead him whereas we in the audience know what is going on....
