    300: Rise of an Empire

Eva Green alone makes it a better film.

I think it's clear they weren't exactly intended to be a series since Lee Van Cleef plays different characters in two of the movies. But they certainly work together as a trilogy, just purely because of Eastwood's presence and the tonal similarities. I still call them a trilogy, but then there's the fact that his name is actually revealed to be Joe in the movies, so I'm not sure where that Man With No Name nonsense comes from. TGtB&tU is the best, but I also really loved For a Few Dollars More. Van Cleef is really good in a very atypical role.

    I utterly disagree.

I'd say so. I think the overall story was more interesting. I loved the music. All of the characters were intriguing. It had more of a plot to it than 300 did. Plus, Eva Green is beautiful and such a talented actress. I like the interactions between her and Xerxes at the end. I also like the music when Xerxes is watching the battle and when he leaves.

I think X2 surpassed the original X-Men. But that's well known.

The lead actor in 300: Rise of an Empire had none of the energy or charisma of Gerard Butler. But Eva Green was fantastic. It was almost worth watching the whole, rather dreary movie just for that incredibly violent sex scene. If only the rest of the film had been that gloriously energetic.

Yeah, the male lead in ROAE is a bit milquetoast, but I found his more reserved tone less objectionable than Butler's constant screaming. Don't get me wrong, I do like the original 300 (almost pulled it out for a re-watch in the wake of this thread), but I prefer the sequel a tad more.

Considering that none of the script drafts have anything remotely similar to the T-1000 (Kyle Reese is already in the July 1982 script treatment) or even to two cyborgs, and that it seems to fly against Cameron's often-repeated statement that The Terminator was inspired by a feverish dream about a metal skeleton chasing after a woman, I call total BS on this.

At least I think it was better. It was hard to see a lot of it.
