How can you say Anakin when he is only in 60 seconds of ROTJ?

Palpatine's rise to power is what set all the other stories in motion.

IMO it's Anakin because he has the most complicated story of them all, after all it takes 6 movies to tell his tale. Besides he gets to be Vader and Vader just kicks booty left and right. )

 

Anakin's story takes three movies and a few minutes from ROTJ. The rest of the time he's just a bad guy. He's not even Anakin for half the story, and as Vader he's rather flat. The focus during that half is on Luke.

 

I really hate this retconning of the OT that tries to make Anakin out to be the big hero and reduces Luke into a bit player in his own hero's journey. Just because the prequels focus on the father should not diminish the son. The main theme is love and how it is or is not expressed.

 

The story is about Anakin and Obi-Wan.

As the flanneled man himself said...it's about Anakin/Vader. Same person.

 

Hmmm, well one of the great things about the Star Wars Saga is that so many characters are watched and developed. It isnt about just one or two characters, but a plethora of people.

The Saga does revolve around the rise, fall, and redemption of Anakin. That cant be denied. Lucas has stated it.

However that doesnt stop the movies from spending time dealing with other characters. A lot of time is spent with ObiWan in the PT and Luke in the OT. However we get almost as much time spent developing Padme in the PT and Han in the OT. There are minor characters that get good development too.

So...yeah...its about Anakin, but with strong emphasis of other characters. Something most movies fail to do.

 

Personally, I can't wait to watch ROTJ after seeing Episode 3. Hopefully, Anakin's redemption and death in his son's arms will be considered the most dramatic moment in all the saga. Heck, in my mind one of the greatest in cinematic history.

 

I've always considered Anakin as the saga's main character. The PT chronicles his rise and then fall to the Dark Side. Then the OT is how he meets his children and eventually redeems himself by destroying the Emperor.
