Which Star Wars battle is your favourite?

The Battle of Hoth

 

The Battle of Endor.

It's just a terrific sequences. IMO, it's still the best space battle on film.

 

Definately the battle over Coruscant. Wasn't long, but the FX were awesome.

 

Hoth.

 

One word: Geonosis.

The first one I ever saw, it remains an awesome experience to see. Love it.

Endor way out in front?

I voted for Hoth just over Yavin. Hoth just had so many elements, mechanized and troops and snow speeders, plus Luke taking out ATATs in very cool ways.

 

Battle of Endor, it took the best elements of the Battle of Yavin, and expanded them to a much grander scale. There was nothing I didn't love about it.

 

Space battle of Endor was fantastic, but you've got the Ewoks, so it can't win.

I vote other. As a SW book reader, my favorite battle happens to be one of the battles for Coruscant in the NJO series.

 

Endor
Geonosis and Hoth are tied as ground battles. Geonosis was easily more spectacular, but it was also more haphazzard and loses something on the small screen.

Utapau wasn't even really a showcase battle anymore than Kashyyyk or Mygeeto so it's a bit odd that it's included... Neat battle, but not competition for the heavy hitters.

 

The Battle of Yavin, cause it is the greatest space battle in the history of SciFi movies, IMO. Does anyone watch movies for drama and tension anymore, or is it all about special effects and the wow factor?

The assault on the death star is so great, and the effects are way down at the bottom as to why I love it.

1. It has drama as you are with Luke throughout that whole battle as you see almost all the red leader pilots die, as it ultimately comes to him or nothing.

2. It has tension, when Vader is on Lukes tail for the last few minutes of the trench run, you almost feel like Vader is going to take you out. It is the perfect edge of your seat action.

3. It has seriousness throughout the battle. You don't have C3PO cracking bad jokes like Geonosis battle, you don't have Jar Jar doing slapstick like the Battle of Naboo, and you don't have any Teddy Bears mucking up the battle, this is pure adult oriented entertainment that kids can latch onto.

4. It has the ultimate satisfaction when Luke blows up the death star, and Han Solo saves the day. The ultimate ending to a SW movie, nothing ever beats it.

5. The O-OT version still has great effects and didn't need updating, cause it is just a tool not eye candy. It is so realistic as to the CG battles in the PT, where they are just a big videogame.

 

Coruscant-best battle, best effects, everything AND the kitchen sink!

Was a really tough choice for me but in the end I went with Hoth.

 

Hoth, followed by Yavin. Both feel as though a great deal is at stake.
