    Both. I have never seen the Special Edition, so now that they are coming out on DVD within the next two years, I will wait 'til then.

    I tend to spend slightly more time with the "original" cuts of ANH and ESB on laserdisc, although I do own the "Special Editions" in that format. As Bill Hunt over at The Digital Bits recently said, I'll be more than willing to throw down for Lucas's "Final-Final-Really-I'm-Seriously-Not-Kidding-This-Time-Ultimate-Archival-Restoration-Edition," as long as the originals are included. Otherwise, why even call it an "Archival Edition" in the first damn place...??

    Admittedly, Lucas is about the only person on this whole planet whom could force me to go well beyond the dreaded "double-dip." Hell, I've been his b***h for years. 8-}

    I believe I possess no fewer than four different editions of the original trilogy on videocassette (the original CBS-FOX tapes; a later pan-and-scan set; the widescreen tapes that came with a boxed collector's set off of QVC; and the "Faces" THX-remastered editions that were given to me by a friend, not knowing I had them on laser)...

    ...three different versions of the trilogy on laserdisc (the "Definitive Collection" CAV nine-disc boxed set; the CLV "Faces" discs; and the "Special Editions" in CLV format)...

    ...plus, the current two prequel films on DVD (as well as TPM on widescreen VHS) from back when DVD was still a very nebulous glint in George Lucas's eye.

    Yes, I think it's safe to say that I've been bent over and LIKING it for quite some time, now. [face_laugh] ;)

    Forgive me for being a purist, but I love the OT original editions and think that the SEs are unnecessary embellishment. And I like the music at the end of ROTJ a lot better in the original.

    I said both but I'm too tight to fork out for both, so probably only the ultimate editions, just so it ties nicely into the PT.

    i would buy both but watch the OT because i would prolly care more about tis special features than the special editions...the effects don't do it for me. give me more of the story and how the movie was made in 1977 and i'm happy.

    I am one of those scary, die-hard OOT people. I haven't seen the SE's since they were in theatres. I refuse to watch them.

    Sheesh, I already own four versions of the OT as it is. Recorded off TV, the SE, the remasterd one, and some VCDs that I got off of eBay. There is no doubt that I'd buy whatever edition GL brings out...or all of them if he releases all of them!
