I was wondering, which characters can be included at "main characters" in The Force Awakens?
I would say - Rey,Finn,Kylo - without any doubt. They are all principal characters of the movie.

But,we also have Han Solo on the list,we also have general Hux presented a lot of time.

Than we also have Leia,Maz,Luke,Snoke which could also be included between main characters.
So,what I am seeing is that "The Force Awakens" does not have a single main character,as it was in other Star Wars movies (prequel having Anakin as main character and original trilogy having Luke as main character).
    Which,for me,seems really awesome.

Rey, Kylo, and Finn are the main characters. Maybe Han, but that's it. Poe, Leia, Hux, etc. might be somewhat important to the plot but they're still just supporting cast.

So, Finn and Kylo=main characters in TFA
Han and Leia=not main characters in ANH

    I tend to disagree.

    Agreed.
Luke was the lead character in ANH, but both Han and Leia were main characters. The back-up leads if you will.
In the same way, Rey is the lead character in TFA, while Finn and Kylo are main characters.

Also, in regards to the OP - Anakin was not the lead in TPM.

Well, I have not made a statistic but I think, that if we take the time that Finn is shown on the screen, compared to the time Rey is shown on the screen,
Finn is having more time allocated by J.J than Rey has.
Is quite simple, how much time do we have Rey,shown, without Finn?
And how much time we have Finn shown, without Rey?
    So,you see,as the movie starts,we are presented,in order,first Kylo,than Finn.
Only after Kylo is seen in action and Finn in action (and we see that Finn refuses to execute the orders he received ,because were cruel),only than,we see Rey in action.
And the refusal of Finn, attracts the attention of Kylo, towards him.
    Later,Rey is saving BB8 .
So,even if I like Rey,I think she is not the lead character.
I do not think TFA has a lead character.

And if we see how characters are presented, Kylo is having best presentation,is like a stage which is getting prepared, for the star to appear:
the shuttle comes,in center of the screen, than, the doors of the shuttle opens and than,Kylo descends from the shuttle.
Only a red carpet is missing,to be placed down on the ground, for Kylo to step on it.

Rey, Finn and Kylo are the lead trio. That's quite innovative for Star Wars and I love it!
I half expect to see Rey and Kylo grow close in a twisted way; like they're two sides of the same coin. Finn will likely disapprove fiercely and I'll enjoy some excellent space drama

Poe is comparable to Lando. I reckon he'll be Finn's closest friend in EpVIII and he might end up interacting with Rey at some point.

The main characters are Rey, Kylo and Finn. Finn is the connection between Rey and Kylo, nothing is random, the force guides events as they unfold.

Looking at the poster, it's pretty obvious who the main characters are - Kylo, Rey, and Finn...

With everyone else playing supporting roles integral to the plot (except for one lady Stormtrooper who's at the lower-center but ended up being a mere sideshow)!

I believe that Rey, Finn, and Poe are acting as the ST's equivalent of Luke, Leia, and Han. Kylo's just Darth Vader 2.0, in-universe and out. So, as the main characters of the OT were ultimately Luke and Anakin/Vader, I think the ST will shift a lot of its attention onto Rey and Kylo.

Does Anakin's / Luke's lightsaber calling out to Rey qualify as character? O:)

Rey, Finn, Kylo & Han Solo.

Ably supported by Chewie and BB8

    The rest beneath them.

No, that was more or less just a cameo.
