    probably an unnecessary bump but


    jar jar`s role in AOTC was hardly minimal. it was he who gave palpatine the control and powers that lead to the clone wars. so you could say that jar jar is responsible for everything that happened afterwards. hardly a minimal role? therefore if you feel the need to hate him, you should hate him because of this and not because he`s crap.

    why all this vitriol towards jar jar? he was great. highly important to the plot, and a fine star wars character. just cos he spoke in a stupid accent, everyone is on his case. :p

    theres a Quote from Ahmed Best in the Making of ROTS book on Best's last Day where he comments on the Jar Jar Character.:

    "Wheter you think Jar Jar is cool or not is completely subjective. There are people out there who try to justify their ideas of Jar Jar, But that's an opinion developed in the constructs of the predjudice they have in themselves. It has absolutely nothing to do with reality. By the same token, there are people who just didn't like jar jar as a character. And that's completely valid. But as Jar Jar being a negative creature,no, he wasn't"

    I agree big dave. I find nothing wrong with Jar Jar himself. The technology and the need for his character are fine. His accent however, and some of his actions, were unneccessary.
