I did partly because I love Hayden Christensen and partly because in my view Anakin was the best character in the film.
Did any of you nice people cry?

Justice was being served. I was appalled with Anakin and to see him burn as a consequence to his crimes was very fitting.

My wife and I were laughing and shaking our heads the other night at how absolutely 100% Anakin got owned by Obi-Wan, especially since Obi-Wan didn't want to do it so there wasn't much aggression involved, just a simple and effective counter maneuver.

    Brilliant.

I said that because many people think Hayden is a whiney, grumpy **** after his performance in AOTC. Some probably thought 'hahaha have that you whinging *******, definately don't like sand now do you!'

I didn't cry or laugh, there were moments such order 66 which were more sad that this.

I think a question that would get a more affirmative response would be: "How many people burst into applause when Anakin lit up?" Besides the fact that it was the defining moment that tied the OT to the PT, it was also the moment Anakin got what he deserved for betraying his friends, killing his comrades, executing the children that trusted him, choking his pregant wife to death, and turning on the man who had raised and supported him for over ten years.

Anakin is a cool character, but I'm afraid my sympathies run thin with such rap sheets.

He killed all those younglings, betrayed the Jedi Order and choked his own wife leading to her death!!! Why would you cry? That's like crying when Saddam gets executed (if he actaully is gonna be)

I didn't burst out crying, but I didn't laugh either.

When Anakin screamed "I HATE YOU!" and then started to burn, I was very moved and very sad, thinking about the innocent little boy with the good heart that I saw in TPM, and how he had come to this.

I didn't cry, but I was close to it - not just for Anakin, but for Obi Wan as well.

Yeah I saw it again at school last weekend. I could hear people whispering during the Immolation, I think they were really shocked that George would show something that graphic and I actually found very easy to pity Anakin. At the start of the movie he had it all he was a husband, about to be a father and on the verge of becomming the youngest Master in the history of the Order and by the end, he a burn victim with no limbs in an iron lung.

I felt saddened for him when he sat in that Council chamber by himself and started crying

But by the time of Mustafaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr and especially when Padme/Obi arrive there, he's just a pissed off villain through & through. He'd lost his humanity already so it's hard to grieve for something that isn't there, i felt bad but in the same way that it's sad that Maul and Dooku were evil or that the Seperatist leaders were misguided/tricked. As for actual sympathy, i reserved that for Obi-Wan and Padme.

i found the entire second half of ROTS to be absolutely heartbreaking...
i went back and forth between outright crying and just feeling choked up...
the immolation was shocking and upsetting, but the Jedi Purge made
    me cry more...

also, the scene in the Jedi Council chambers just before Anakin rushes
off to meet his dark destiny... the two lovers staring across the city...

and the moment where Vader realizes that he basically killed Padme
was overwhelming. the NOOOO! may have been hammy, but the
helplessness in his voice as he says, "She couldn't have! I... felt it..."
really got the waterworks going... just that feeling that
he has made this literal life/soul-destroying mistake is very upsetting...

    overall, an emotionally exhuasting film...

    i loved it...

oddly enough, the first thing that got me going was Padme telling
Anakin that she was pregnant... knowing what is on the horizon, i found
that very sad... the look of innocence and love on her face... the tenderness
    of the scene...

i don't see anyone could possibly find any of the 2nd half of ROTS even remotely
funny... (Yoda knocking out the Red Guards aside, of course)

I felt very melancholy when I saw it. I could almost identify with how Obi-Wan must have felt. It was deeply emotional.

I didn't cry at the immolation, but it was a sobering
    moment to be sure.

Yeah there were mildly humorous moments during the Senate fight, like Yoda owning the IRGs and the "oh crap" look on Sidious's face when he realizes that the Senate Pod he threw at Yoda is comming back his way, but those are really the only ones.

It was sad, but I felt worse for Obi-Wan who was forced to 'do what he must'.

Yes, and it was INTENDED to be pathetic. It's showing us Vader's past, where he
came from and how he came to be the sad character he is in the OT. The big powerful
monster Vader, is actually a broken-hearted loser who is a slave to Palpatine and
totally messed up his life when he had unlimited potential.

Lucas is deconstructing the the villain of the OT to show how bad choices
and the darkside can ruin a person.

Isn't it INTERESTING how Luke's pathetic "noooooooooo" and moaning in
ESB after the "father" revelation is given a pass, but Vader's isn't?
