I have been listening to my soundtrack almost non-stop since I got it last Thursday. I think it is incredible!

John Williams better start looking over his shoulder! :)

The first time I saw the movie, the music didn't really impact me (except "Concerning Hobbits," which is an incredible piece of music, capable of moving me to tears.) The second time I saw it, it all clicked together. I just had to go out and buy the soundtrack. The "heroic theme" (the fanfare most of the score is built around) is on its way to becoming as memorable as the first chords of the SW theme.

And Enya's compositions... "Aniron" was so perfect for Arwen and Aragorn's love scene it's uncanny. And "May it Be" is one of the best songs Enya has written since "China Roses."

ps-- Kudos to Roma Ryan for the lyrics!

I bought it when it first came out, and really liked it.

Now that I've seen the visuals it's meant to accompany, I like it even more :D

Stop it with that word "Precious" every thread "Precious"

I would be laughing if you will listen to that for the whole year THX.

I LOVE "Concerning Hobbits." Every single time I hear it, I am in the Shire.

I now have the ability to sing Arwen & Aragorn's theme in Elvish. :D

Another favorite of mine is the music they play right after the Fellowship exits Moria. Gives me shivers all up and down. I also really really like the Doom Drums in Moria while the Fellowship starts down the stairs. Wonderful stuff!!!

Edit: I AM doing my homework...very slowly, but it is getting done, my Precious. And Obi-Wan, I happen to like being called Precious, if you don't mind. :p

BTW: This may be a stupid question, but does the Aragorn and Arwen Theme have lyrics? If it does, does anyone have them?

It does have lyrics in both English and Elvish (?). I can't transcrib them because they are in my car at the moment.

    ANIRON

    O mor henion i dhû:
    Ely siriar, êl sila
    Ai! Aniron Undomiel

    Tiro! Êl eria e môr.
I 'lir en êl luitha 'uren.
    Ai! Aniron...

(From darkness I understand the night:
    dreams flow, a star shines
    Ah! I desire Evenstar

Look! A star rises out of the darkness
The song of the star enchants my heart
    Ah! I desire...)

My favorite songs are Aniron, The Bridge of Kazad Dum, and The Breaking of the Fellowship. :)

    YES IT DOES!

AND I HAVE THEM MEMORIZED!! :D

I can't do special characters because I don't have a num pad, but here goes:

    O mor henion i dhu
    Ely siriar el sila
    ai! Aniron...Undomiel

    Tiro! El Eria e mor
I 'lir en el luitha 'uren
    Ai! Aniron

    The rough translation is:

From the darkness I understand the night
    Dreams flow, a star shines
    Ah! I desire Evenstar

Look! A star from the darkness
    The song enchants my heart
    Ah! I desire...

    Edit: I hate you! :p

I love the Orcish war song (the one they play over the bridge sequence). It's just so... Orcish. :D

I love the soundtrack. I didn't really notice it that much when I first saw the movie. The second time though I really paid attention to it and the next day I went out and bought it. I listened to it the entire weekend and had to see the movie again because of it. :D

I listen to it every morning and night, really sets my day right.

I prefer John Williams. The LOTR music suited the film well.

The thing I have noticed about John Williams lately is that all the scores he does have similarities. You can hear Indiana Jones and Star Wars in Harry Potter, and a little of Jones and Star Wars in Jurassic Park. I think the LOTR score is very original and refreshing.

I didn't notice the music too much during my first viewing either, but only because I was so stunned with the visual. Since I can't make it to the theatre much at all (too far away, and I am car-less) I listen to my soundtrack and pretend I am there. :D

    Sad, I know. ;)

I've noticed Williams recycling quite a few of his themes lately as well. I suppose when you've been in the business as long as he has, it's hard not to.

You heard of something recycled in A.I.? Or Angela's Ashes? Or Seven Years in Tibet?
