I love it I like to listen to it on my AOTC CD! I always turn up ROTJ or EBS or AOTC when the song comes on! :D

GK edit: OK, enough is enough. The point has been made, and this horse is dead. MOST of the tracks, cues and themes in film score are not SONGS. In honor of Halibut's return, I am locking this thread. Let's talk about the Imperial March elsewhere. Imperial March - Origin is one place to start. The Best Scene Using the Imperial March would be a good place for much of this praise. Thanks. :)

I think it goes something like this:

(Words follow the melody of the horns)

    Here I come, a dark-Lord-of-the-Sith
    There you go falling down-on-the-floor
Clutching your throat as you choke-to-death, oh yeah
    As you choke-to-death, oh yeah
    Falling down on your knees.
Captain Piett you're an Admiral now, oh yeah
So don't fail me now, oh yeah --
A dark Lord of the Sith

    ;)

    :p

    Ken, I love it!
where did you dig it up?

Jen, if you were talking about the Imperial March theme, yes that is great as well. I especially like it when JW slowed the tempo in AOTC and added the triplets in the low brass

    Ahh...

I just made it up. I mean a song has to have words, right? ;)

hah, good one (I refer to Kanobi's lyrics)

Riddle me this: Why some people keep calling score tracks or themes as ''songs''...damn :)

Wasn't it Mastage that was all militant about this? The music from film scores are called CUES or TRACKS. They are not called songs.

Yeah, it'd be nice if Halibut would come back. Then we wouldn't have to keep reminding people about this. :)

We could put a note at the top of the forum, like the GSFF has the note about not using German / English online translators...

some people have never been told the difference, so everything is a song to them. I too was once like that. Then I became a music major and people really grilled it out of me.

I also cannot understand why some people get so excited when someone uses the word 'song' instead of 'cue' or 'track' or whatever....
I mean good god, the ammount of people here who use the word 'leitmotif' like they know what it means is incredible.
Stop using the linear notes like it's a music textbook.

This is a place where many folks who love music, JW & Star Wars music in particular, come to talk. These people come from many different ages and backgrounds. Some are well-versed in music theory.

I think we can all learn from and benefit one another. The point about not over-reacting to mis-use of terms is well-taken. On the other hand, I think it is respectful to try to use the correct terms.

People who lurk a bit and read the FAQ will pick up on some of this "etiquette" quickly. Most of the regulars here who point out these mis-uses do so with tongue-in-cheek humor. :p Occasional frustration is seen too, however.

I don't think it's anything to get worked up about one way or the other. :)

When we were waiting in line to buy the AOTC action figures in the Carbondale, Illinois Wal-Mart, They had the soundtrack playing on the isle they were setting up on. We were about 2 feet away from the speaker and I'll never forget the feeling I got when I heard that being played. Except for the unbelivable pain I had from the Newly sprained ankle I had. It was the moment that made it better than Episode I.

Well, sometimes calling a score track/cue/theme/whatever a ''song'' is hilarious to me (note the smile in my post when I note that). Here's the second verse to Kenobi's lyrics:

Here comes the big bad Lord of the Sith
Yeah, yeah, baby he's the Lord of the Sith
Cower in your holes, protect your throat, obey
cause he's the Lord of the Sith
Run away, your defenses are in vain
    You are choked
by the Lord of the Sith (repeated)

Hey, we could team up with JW and write his lyrics for him!

Just like Bernie Taupin & Elton John.

    ok....

    um......

    maybe not.

    :p
