I think it would be great to read some novels based in the "Infinities" world. When I was reading comics I particularly enjoyed Tales.

The only problem I see with Infinities is that readers could get confused with what's in the continuity and what's not. Especially new readers.

I think it would be even better if these novels were in fact short story collections written by fans. Much like Pocketbooks does with Star Trek. Having a competition every year and picking a winner in each series. Star Wars could do this with each era. Sith, Prequel, OT, New Republic, New Jedi Order.

    ffjghjdyutjsjksyrkghkzahkdk NO!!!!!!!

We've only got a set number of books on the liscence, and we don't want to go wasting them with stuff that never happened.

Continuinty is messed up enough as it is without adding to it even more.

Tales From/Of... were nowhere close to being infinities.

I was comparing them to the Tales series of comics.

The Tales From... stuff may be canon, but it's still a collection of short stories that can at times contradict a lot of other stuff. (Even if it is because they are summararily ignored or overlooked by later writers). Heck, plenty of Tales stories could fit into the continuity. And several would require some messing around to make them fit. (And some... just... don't).

In that regard, Tales from... IS close to an infinities seris.

    So nuts.

    Why make more infinites novels?
There is so much to do which can be considered canon.
    Stick to important stuff.

The best thing about the EU is it's continuity, it's one long, long story. If it loses that, I'll never buy another book.

If you want Infinities-stories, read fan-fiction.

Sometimes it is even better, than the official crap.

I would, for the sole reason that I'd like to see Knightfall (or, at least, Jedi Storm, which was done, and would thus require minimal effort to publish; the other two still need to be written, though). Beyond that, though, it'd be iffy.

If more Infinities are written and sold,
it could ruin the timeline, and at that point I will give up on EU.

That's not a bad idea. What about having a "Making of the New Jedi Order" series online? Abandoned storylines and books, the NJO Bible--it could be interesting! It's probably actually get me to subscribe to Hyperspace.

If it's not a part of the "real" GFFA, I'm not interested in reading it.

I wouldn't want to read an "infinities" novel product, but I'm not sure how something that's not considered an official part of star wars continuity would mess up the official star wars continuity .

    SlackJawedJedi :

They don't contradict anything and as far as i know no one has contradicted those.

In fact they've been referenced several times in the Republic series. One reference is the fact that Ephant Mon is Force sensitive.

Another reference is the Secura family. Ostrander made Aayla a member of that family.

Having AU novels might be a little confusing. But I do like the idea of having a competition for fans to write short stories that would be collected, only m ake them follow the EU.

    www.fanfiction.net if you want that.

It'd be too tricky. How do the people writing in the contest know what the series has up it's sleeve? What's to stop someone, after losing the contest, suing Del Rey if elements from their story, say, Wedge dies, later on in a novel?

I would. All the EU characters have gotten sooo stale and boring. It's always the same 12 or so people. It's like a soap opera that never gets any new blood.

ANd no more relatives wthat become Jedi. Sheesh.......

I don't see how infinities would change that problem.
