That was just the Rebel fleet staying for the victory celebration. The Empire would want to scour the entire moon for Death Star scraps regardless if they knew Vader's body was on it or not.

So the Ewoks are cannibals! Just like here on Earth with Alaskan King Crab, the Ewoks eat the tender insides and discard the hard outer shell.

It was stolen from the museum at the entrance of Endor Galactric War Memorial. Ewoks make surprisingly poor docents.

Because no one other that Kylo Ren or an obsessive SW collector maniac fanboy would be interested in getting a useless derelict scorched helmet.

But Kylo's the only one who's got a spaceship.

I am actually surprised Luke didn't make sure all remnants of Vaders suit was destroyed, to prevent this very thing with Kylo from happening.

C'mon, we all know Luke tried it on just for fun before burning it.

He tried. Obviously some elements of his outfit had a high heat tolerance. Thank you for making my point. You don't leave that stuff for just anyone to have. Luke did the best he could with the limited time he had with his father.

The helmet would have also been a strong token reminder of what happens when you fall to the dark side. It would have been an important relic to the new Jedi Academy.

Some witnesses claimed they saw Luke I'm-your-fathering every tree and/or ewok in the surroundings.

From the visual dictionary direct quote:

"Vader's Mask - Scavenged from the funeral pyre on Endor, Darth Vader's charred and melted helmet is a silent symbol of both the darkside's power and it's weakness"

Thank you. Nowhere does it say Kylo. Chances are the book publishers themselves have no idea who took/kept it.

It does not say Kylo Ren specifically but in all fairness the quote comes directly from page 24 (which is Kylo Ren's so some may assume it) Other references to the helmet are as follows: " Empty sock where transparisteel holoplate rested " (which picture indicator); "Within his private quarters aboard the Finalizer, Kylo Ren communes with the charred remnants of Darth Vader, vowing to finish the work the Dark Lord started a generation earlier"

It's an object of importance. The helmet calls to Kylo like Anakin's lightsaber calls to Rey. The Millennium Falcon calls to Han. Backstory is important to character development, and that's what these objects have essentially become: characters.

"Hey guys! Here's the burnt-out remains of my own dad which represented him as a symbol of fear and darkness to the galaxy! Totally not creepy, no?"

That Luke committed Anakin's mortal remains to the fire at all suggests that he probably wasn't hung up on keeping them.

Could be simple as, after the fire Luke collected the remains and had it buried some place. Told his students about his father and how he fell to the dark side and was able to finally redeem himself. Ben knowing where the family cemetery was went and dug it up.
I agree there is no need to go into how he exactly got it, Vader was his grandfather and so getting it should be much easier for him than some stranger. Enough said.

Not if you read the bolded part solemnly. Voice inflection can make anything sound creepy. Right, ladies? ;)

"That's a fantastic story, Luke, but I have a hard time believing it."
    "Let me show you something..."

This I could get behind. Perhaps he kept his remains in an ossuary or crypt.
