Who is the best Star Wars actor so far?

Even though Mark Hamill is a B movie actor (apart from Star Wars!) - I think that he was the best actor in the series technically wise, he really gives 110% - just look at his emotive responses for example, ie: the Vader revelation scene.

 

Question is not specific enough for me to answer.
IE: Overall Actor, just SW, all of the OT or just TPM?

 

Alec Guinness is one of the greatest actors in cinematic history. No contest.

Mark Hammil!?! LOL. I'm sorry Gatherer, but I think Mark Hammil's acting was terrible. "Hey come on, I need that!" "You bet I could, I'm not such a bad pilot myself. Come on, we don't need to listen to this" Marvellous (I think not)!

Ian McDiarmid, hands down. Harrison Ford a close second.

Alec Guinness, grumpy old man though he might have been, was one of the greats.

Well Harrison Ford is the richest, and that is how great actors are judged thies days, so I will go with him. It just depends on what you are talking about.

The question is not about overall career acting, but for the acting that was done in Star Wars, and ONLY in Star Wars.

I don't think Alec Guiness' acting was brilliant in SW. I mean, sure he did a good job, but he never really seemed to 'get' his character or the SW universe.

I'm surprised Ewan is being ignored by so many people, I know his role in TPM was limited, but look at his other movies. He's a great actor.

Hard ques. I voted Carrie Fisher followed by Harrison Ford and then a tie between Hamill and McGregor.

 

I voted for Alec. My vote isn't really based on acting ability but is some what related. I voted for the one that captured the screen. The one that you want to see in every scene and you can't wait for the next scene with that actor. It's not their acting but just their presence. I felt this with Alec Guinness and Liam Neeson. Both of them captured the screen and any actor that needs a model for a Jedi, these two men are it. Ford didn't do this for me because he hadn't really hit superstardom until after the trilogy. If there are episode 7, 8, 9, and Ford comes back then he will have that presence! But he has already said he wouldn't come back as Han Solo.

 

Looking at other movies, I'd say Ewan McGregor's a really top-notch actor. He gives such passionate performances.

But I have to go with Mark Hamill as being the best, cuz, well, I'm biased towards him. But, seriously, have you ever heard his work on the Star Wars NPR Radio Dramas? Man, after that, I got REALLY impressed! He's such an incredibly talented hard worker! He gives it his all. AND, he's highly underrated.

 

I'd vote ofr 'em all, but I voted for Peter Cushing to give him more votes.
He just fit the role so perfectly!

Even when only counting the performances in the SW movies, it still has to go to Alec Guinnes. He is completely believalbe in ANH, and moves with a graceful style that no other actors can ever approach.

 

Natalie Portman, to me, just has great amounts of talent. Don't get me wrong, I love *most* of the acting in the OT, but Nat just takes the cake for me. And I think over the next two films, Padmé as a character will become more intense.
