JCC Who is the better actor, Will Smith or..?

Very simple premise.

Is the cardboard box more convincing an actor than Will Smith?

For me the choice is clear. Whenever I've seen a cardboard box on screen, I've believed it was a cardboard box. It has never made me doubt it was, in fact, a box made entirely out of cardboard.

When I see Will Smith on screen, I don't believe he's, say, Deadshot, or, um, other characters. I just believe he's Will Smith. If Will Smith played a cardboard box, you'd say "that's Will Smith." Not, "That's a cardboard box..."

I feel a cardboard box is far more easily typecast than Will Smith. Well, maybe not "far".

I'd like to see Smith be a fraction as convincing.

 

i used to think will smith was kinda meh...a "how did this guy get here?" kind of phenomenon until i saw the pursuit of happyness and he earned my respect...and then lost it again with everything he's done since.

that said, your cardboard box has got nothing on the leather belt that tom hanks didn't think to remove from the dead pilot in cast away.

 

Will Smith had an affair with that belt once.
