Who is the fastest lightsaber fighter in RotS?

sidious,yoda or anakin

 

I think its the Emperor based on the McDiarmid quotes in my signature. He also said that the Emperor appears to be the fastest fighter in the universe.

 

Yoda, he has to be to make up for his size.

 

Palpatine cannot fight at all. When he dueld Mace, I laughed, then when he dueled Yoda It looked awkward.


Anakin has the skills.

 

According to the novel it was Mace. Due the crappy choriography (sp.) and poorly put together fight scene during the confrontation in Palpatine's office, that was lost. I would say that Obi-wan was the fastest lightsaber fighter based on his fight with Grevious on Utapau. I think that their was so much emphasis on "THE DUEL" that all other lightsaber duels were intentionally allowed to be far less than they could have been, bordering on their being purposesly made weaker during filming.

 

Based on what I saw on-screen.....I'd have to agree with this observation.

IM is clearly basing his views on something other than the finished film.

 

no offense but its definitely not YODA NOR PALPS IMO
it has to be Count Dooku which no one mentioned(he fended off both anakin and obi-wanat the same time). Although i would also go with anakin or obi-wan.

I love Count Dooku's style.......however I tend to credit the Count with outstanding footwork and Lightsaber old fashioned skills more than speed. Remember Dooku was a Padawan under Yoda....so he's more or less a 6ft something version of Yoda's skills but not as powerful or fast because his MIDI count wasn't high enough

 

I go for Obi-Wan, watching the amount of blocking and defence he does in the final duel, never mind the attack, he certainly is more faster!

good topic, this is very interesting.....at first i would say yoda, but the mor you think about it, yoda is really fast (himself), but the actual strikes/hits from his lightsaber aren't, he is very flippy and flamboyant but he actually appears to make very precise stabs in the midst of his acrobatics show. now in stover's novel, during the grievous and obiwan battle, he goes into extreme detail to express the fact that grievious was faster than the human eye, yet at the same time, obiwan was so in-tune with the force at the moment, he was able to block/parry all his attacks.....something to think about...

But in the entire saga, I would have to go with Darth Maul.

 

Yoda is, his form 4 style of fighting makes all his moves really fast, when yoda fights is a blur, when anakin fights you can see everything that hes doing and sidious may be really good but hes not fast.

 

I think it was a tie between Anakin & Obi-Wan. After all they were Master and Padawan. So they knew each other's move inside out (hince their great duel) they were both fast.

Just my opinion.

 

Ian says Palpatine can move at the speed of sound if not light. That's why you kept hearing all the sonic booms during the fight.

Yoda. And he had the coolest move by far, when he threw his lightsaber into the Clone, jumped up on him and took it out. I will rewind and re-watch that part endlessly.

 

Yoda is the fastest. I'm always amazed how in both of the duels that invloved Yoda, barley 1/3 of the saber swings actually connect with the opponent's lightsaber.

 

Palpatine and Dooku are easily the fastest. Anakin's is the most effective. And Dooku's is by far the best looking. Just my Opinion. Oh, and if Dooku had been given any justice at all in RotS, he would have been higher on your lists.
