Saga Who is the most important character of the entire saga?

I'm not putting a poll here because it's a bit open-ended. Is it Anakin who causes the fall of the Jedi but later destroys the Sith? Is it Qui-Gon who convinces the Jedi to train Anakin? Is it Obi-Wan who fails to train Anakin but becomes an inspiration for Luke? Is it Luke who redeems his father? Is it Palpatine who manipulates the Republic and Anakin? Or is it someone else?

Note: this isn't who the main character is...it's the most important one.

Can we mention more than just one character? If so, in my opinion, here are the most important characters:

- Palpatine / Darth Sidious
- Anakin / Darth Vader
- Luke
- Obi-Wan
- Yoda

Mainly the most important characters in the saga are users of the Force.

 

Vader.

The P.T. was all about his fall.
The O.T. was about his redemption.
The new trilogy seems to be about his legacy.

The only other real choice(s) are R2-D2 & C-3PO, as they are the only ones present in every film. Arguably, the saga is their story.

 

Will.

Her death gave Anakin reason to fear Padme's death, which led to him becoming Vader in the first place.

 

Any Sith or any Jedi... There isn't a specific one.

People saying Sidious was the most important, while I say Plagueis was almost important as him, since he trained him and created his character, so we can't ignore the other Sith lords before him or after, and it's same for the Jedi...

 

Luke.

 

R2-D2. The main characters in both trilogies would've been killed off quickly without him.

Haha no but really, I guess it would be Obi-Wan. Or Anakin/Luke but I know you said it's not about who's the 'main' character.

 

anakin. it's the rise and fall of him. none of the stories would've occurred had it not been for him. r2d2 is pretty important though, he saves everyone ALL THE TIME lol.

 

Watto-If he never decided to let Shmi and Anakin leave there would be no story. Anakin and Shmi would die slaves back in Tattooine.

 

The Force. Nothing happens without it. Whether you're light side or dark, you need the Force.

 

Gonna have to go for Palpatine, for the same reason already said: remove Palpatine, and there is no Star Wars.

 

It's Anakin/Vader's story
We can discuss who influenced the most events or but for whose actions X would or wouldn't have happened. But in terms of whose story it is, it is clear (and consistent with George's comments) that this is one man's rise, fall and redemption.

 

R5-D4.

 

In terms of the progression of events and string pulling, Darth Sidious.

In terms of overall story, I feel it's a tie between Anakin and Luke.

 

I've never heard the term "light side" be used to describe the Force. At least not in the movies. And the characters that use "the Dark Side" tend to be absolutist in their thinking.

But I do agree that the Force is the most important "character" in the Saga.
