    A.C. Clarke for me. Larry Niven would be a very close second. When Clarke was asked once who his favorite author was he said Larry Niven.

    I don't know. At this instant I might say Orson Scott Card. But it might change next instant. My favorite of the options given would be Douglas Adams.

    Without a doubt, Douglas Adams. Who cares if it isn't the most complex, deep literature. It sure makes me laugh and that's basically a large part of life. LAUGHING.

    by the wording of the question it would Be RA Salvatore hands down, if you like Fatanasy try Homeland, (first in the Dark Elf Triology set in Forgetten Realms) it got me hooked.

    If it is the best author, Stephen King would be my selection of those listed but the he is the only one I've read a book from.

    How could I have forgotten Poe?

    I listened (well watched actually) a reading of The Tell Tale Heart one night while I was home alone. By the time it was done I had every light in the house on.
    I really like Poe.
