Obi-Wan and Anakin are tied for this as far as judged by their merits in ROTS though my favorite character in ROTS judged by the entire Saga's merits is Luke even though he doesn't do anything exceptional in ROTS.

I'd have to say Darth Sidious.

This is his movie all the way.

(I know this is supposed to be "Anakin's story" but for some strange reason, it doesnt feel like he (Anakin) has been the character that's "moved the story along" in any of the individual movies. With the exception of the two MAJOR choices, He seems to be "watching the story unfold" as much as we are.)

I would have to say Obi Wan Kenobi... although Yoda and Mace are close seconds....*S*

I think Lucas commented that when we saw ROTS, it would change how we saw the entire series of SW movies -- and I think he was correct. Or, more humbly, I would say that was true for me. ROTS added a weight and depth to a lot of the characters, for me, made them more "human", more three-dimensional. It made the fall of the Republic, the fall of the Jedi, the rise of the Empire and the Sith, a much darker matter, a much more serious and tragic matter. It clearly did all of these same things for the character of Anakin/Vader. Again, for ME at any rate.

I mention all of this because what also shifted for me was my view of Kenobi. I always liked the character, but with the addition of the "prequel" movies to the picture, and especially with the last piece falling into place with ROTS, Obi Wan really grew in my eyes, into a character of special importance, humanity, decency and heroism.

So cast my vote for Kenobi, although one of the great things about the SW universe is that there is such a rich tapestry of characters that choosing just one seems almost a shame!

My favorite is definitely Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine. In fact, I run a Yahoo Message Board Group for him and we discuss all of his many wonderful roles. See the link below.

Absolutely, hands down (for me at least)it's Pre-Suited Darth Vader.

When he says, "This is the end for you... My Master..." it was the pinnacle/ climax of the movie for me.

Just the way he said it...

    So sure.

    So confident.

    So right...

    the boy was SOOO wrong.

They were awesome.I'm sorry but Obi Wan prequel style will never hold up to Alec Guinness's version.

my favorite charater in rots is of course sidious, and the entire series, i mean really who could'nt help admireing a guy who played the entire galaxy like a 1 sided game of chess, he destroyed the jedi order (well most of it) he planed it from the start(like goerge lucus) he played both sides wich i can't get over, his plan was perfect exept that he left 4 jedi alive not including vader because he was on his side.
