I voted for Frank. One of the all-time great TV comedic characters, played by Larry Linville.

Henry and Flagg are close. They are the funniest characters.

How could nobody have said Hawkeye yet  That's horrible :( I think my second favourite would be Henry. But just thinking about Henry makes me think of his final episode and then I must cry.

Although I have to say Tuttle is probably the best written character. His dialogue is so sharp and witty. But I can never, for the life of me, remember the name of the guy who played him. He just didn't make a big impression on me.

I had a hard time choosing between Frank and Hawkeye, but I chose Hawkeye.

Also earning honorable mention are Flagg, and the General played by Harry Morgan before he was
    Sherman T. Potter

    RIP Larry Linville

Winchester. Easily the most complicated character--arrogant, pompous, snobbish but also kind, generous and humourous---and always ready with a great insult. :D

Finally a poll that is worth something ;)

I had to vote other. While Hawkeye is great, he would not be so without the rest of the crew. Sydney Freedman though is the greatest guest role on the show.

I wish I could revote, I thought you meant real character, not one made up by one of the characters, until I saw Tuttle on the list of other canidates. Captain Tuttle is a symbol to my family. It's too bad he fargot his parachute. :_| Tuttle's my favorite. This world needs all the Tuttles it can get.

It was a tough choice between Hawkeye and Radar.... Went with Hawkeye.

Colonel Potter is cool too, though.

Poor Hot Lips. She's got nothin' so far. Which is too bad, because she's really the most complicated, evolved character over the course of the 11 years. Still, obviously I didn't vote for her, so I can understand.

Now, if the poll were such that it required you to choose between the original "three pairs" , then it'd be a whole lot harder.

I mean, you tell me, who's your favorite?

    Henry/Radar
    Frank/Hot Lips
    Trapper/Hawkeye

That's a much tougher call, IMHO, than picking characters from the entire run. But then again, the show was qualitatively a different show after that third season, because two of these three pairs didn't exist (and the characters that remained from the pair, Hawkeye and Radar, were significantly different without their "partner") and by the fourth season it had, for all intents and purposes, lost Frank (and therefore the original conception of Hot Lips) too.

In that first three years, though, Hot Lips was a comedic force to be reckoned with--as were they all.
