Where's Denethor? I voted for Gollum, though.

I voted for Arwen. I really liked how her character was expanded for the movie. In fact, I think it was actually necessary. In the book she's just sort of there for a brief time and doesn't really do anything. Aragorn sometimes thinks about her but she's really there to just sort of look pretty and marry him at the end. While that's perfectly fine for literature, it isn't a good way to include the love of a major character's life in a movie. I think the movie makers did a superb job of taking a mostly nothing character and turning her into a truly sympathetic character, giving us insight into what she's going through as her love goes off to war, and showing her struggle with giving up her immortality to be with the love of her life. It really made her relationship with Aragorn seem all that more tragic and their reunion at the end all that more powerful.

    Faramir, especially in the books.

Éomer is great as well, I also like Prince Imrahil although he doesn't get a huge amount of page time and both his carrying Faramir back to Minas Tirith and recognition of Éowyn being alive are lost in the movie version. Can't help but love this line...

"Surely this is the greatest jest in all the history of Gondor: that we should ride with seven thousands, scarce as many as the vanguard of its army in the days of its power, to assail the mountains and the impenetrable gate of the Black Land! So might a child threaten a mail-clad knight with a bow of string and green willow!"

I really like Treebeard. In fact, the whole part about the ents fascinates me since it so clearly connects to nature.

Galadriel. She's hot, and given she must be at least 5000 years old, she probably has some nifty moves in the sack:p

Definitely Gollum. He was a huge part of the story. Without him, the whole thing falls apart.

I was always partial to Elrond, myself. Although Saruman's obviously pretty awesome.

Moria Orc #6 was the best. His performance was the most realistic.
