Who is your favourite film director?

Lucas has made two good movies, both of them more than twenty years ago.

Spielberg showed some talent at the beginning of his run, but for the last 10-15 years just about (but not quite) everything he's gotten his hands on has gone to hell.

I voted Paul Verhoeven. I think Ridley Scott is probably the most consistent director on there, but I really love Verhoeven's style, and most of his movies as well.

So I guess I'll have to vote Other. His abscence from this list is almost as absurd as "Signs" abscence from the favorite summer movie poll! (Im talking to you Kessel Runner!)

Spielberg is a really close second.

Well I guess that just goes to show everything is realative and depends on peoples personal opinions, because I like all of Spielbergs recent movies better than the ones he made in the past. Schindlers List, Saving Private Ryan, AI, and Minority Report are all in my top 10, and Minority Report is my second favorite movie of the year.

 

I voted Ridley Scott because Black Hawk Down, Blade Runner, and Gladiator are some of my favorite movies...

a commercial and artistic genius!

i'll give you the first part. wake me up if he ever gets the nerve to make decent art. he came close with the beginning of Saving Private Ryan but he couldn't really keep it together for the rest of the movie.

i would have voted for Jeunet if he had been on the list.

Maybe he doesn't have the most interesting camera angles or whatever, but I love his attention to detail, and the way he brings the GFFA to life... I think people often don't give him the credit he deserves.

I love Lucas dearly but my favorites are Speilberg Scorsese Tarantino & Smith. Kevin Smith inspires me since I wanna be a filmmaker and I'm from Jersey and all that good stuff. The Star Wars saga is my favorite thing of all time though.

 

Lucas... gotta be Lucas. I mean, Speilburg (sp?) is okay, but I don't love his work... I don't like the style as much.
