Who played Obi-Wan best?

A new incarnation of the classic poll question.

 

I say they both did an equally good job of playing Obi-Wan.

 

Alec Guiness, as said before. Do I assume this new one replaces the old one?

Ewan`s Obi-Wan was excellent,but Alec brilliantly created the character and Ewan was just re-doing that performance in his way

I have to say that because honestly I think Ewan did Obi-Wan justice. I couldn't say I wanted anything more from him and so will not say that one or the other is better.

They were both were brilliant in the role, no doubt. And Ewan is responsible for Obi-Wan being my favorite Jedi of the PT. But I also agree that because Guinness created the character that McGregor so wonderfully emulated, he has the edge.

Few years ago I did not expect I would ever dare to say so, but I must say that at the moment Ewan is the one. For me he has become probably even favourite character of SW universe.

 

I think they both did a great job at playing Obi-Wan at two distinctly diferent points in his lifetime. Both required entirely different styles to play the parts (Ewan as an energetic young man and Alec as a wise old guardian) and both actors pulled off the feat perfectly.

 

I went with Ewan. I think he made the character much deeper than it ever was when Guinness played it

Ewan was great but I'll always envision Alec Guiness as Obiwan in my mind.

 

I think they both did an equally good job. They each had a different goal to accomplish with the character, and they both managed it beautifully.

 

Ewan made the transition from young Obi-Wan to old Obi-Wan so seamless it's nearly impossible to deferentiate between the two... so I don't. I think they both did an amazing job creating one character.
