Who played Obi-Wan best?

I think they both did a fantastic job!

I grew up on ANH, ESB and RotJ, and Obi-Wan Kenobi was my favorite character right from the start. Sir Alec gave life to a character I admired for his determination to do the right thing, his kindness and his patience (with just the right touch of eccentricity)

I was thrilled with Ewan's portrayal of Obi-Wan in the prequels, although I thought they should have given Obi much more character development in TPM, but that was the writer's fault there. It may be true that he adopted some of Sir Alec's mannerisms, but sometimes that's much more difficult to do then creating your own portrayal entirely. Not to mention that it made it easy to believe that he was Obi-Wan.

In my humble opinion, I believe that Ewan's acting brought about a little more depth to a character I have always admired and showed the humorous and youthfulness I was sure he must have had before Anakin's fall to the Darkside. And, as I mentioned in my bio, I always knew he must have been cute when he was younger, so that worked out nicely too!

Well, I think that's a long enough explanation for saying I liked them both, so I'm going to end this . . . now!

 

I gotta vote for both. Alec and Ewan both did an excellent job, and when I watch the PT back to back with the OT the characters blend together well.

I would not be able to say for sure that one was better than the other.

They both did an equally great job .. i'm unable to pick one over the other and the way it was done, both performances compliment each other imo

 

I said that they both did an equally good job however that's partially because post-ROTS it's harder for me to differentiate between the two.

I also think of Ewan when I hear Obi-Wan Kenobi but Alec when I hear Ben Kenobi.

he portrayed obi-wan PERFECTLY and also he had to keep some of alec's traits and characteristics. ewan seemed more lifelike and real, while alec didn't have that sarcastic touch

 

Both did great and thats credit to both of them especially Ewan because he took over the part as younger version which had to have some of the same qualities as Alec's older version.

 

They both did fantastic, but Sir Alec got my vote.
